hmmm...that helps, I'm missing a few days in my understanding....it's a pretty tight schedule though....looking at that timeline, I'm guessing that's how Lock's papa found himself on the island.

It doesn't explain how Michael managed to get rescued, got back to New York, screw up his life, try to kill himself, get out of the hospital, try to kill himself again, and meet Tom, (all that happened in 5 days, according to the timeline).

If Lostpedia's timeline is accurate then the earliest Michael and Walt were rescued was day 69. Michael is back in Fiji and on the freighter by day 80. The biggest problem I see is his quick recovery from the car crash. However, the island's influence clearly extends beyond it's physical boundaries as Tom reveals when he discovers Michael attempting to kill himself. Perhaps the same force that restored Locke's ability to walk also accelerated Michael's recovery.

I had never seen Saving Private Ryan but I just watched it for extra credit for history class. Not only was I shocked by the graphicness of it, but also by the fact that Daniel Faraday was in it!? (And Vin Diesel too)

There's a possibility that the will create another hour of Lost for season four so that we would essentially get 14 episodes instead of 13. It's nowhere near official though

Sorry if this was brought up already,

But does anyone know the significance behind why several of the characters are named after western philosophers? (I.E. John Locke, Desmond David Humes, and others thatI can't remeber at the moment :P)

Just because the themes in Lost deal with some of the ideas those philosophers held, I believe. And sometimes the character's perspective matches that of their namesake.

Don't forget the biblical allusions of Jacob, Benjamin [Linus], [baby] Aaron, and Abbadon, to name a few.

The show is a smorgasboard (is that how you spell it?) of literary and mythological themes and characters.

Of course sometimes there's no connection besides the name.

Charolette was named for CS Lewis (C. Lewis)

There are literally hundreds of books that have been either referenced/quoted/seen in the series also.

The writers of lost are keen on sharing their influences
