| Interesting stuff, well my husband is a web developer professionally, he's currently the senior web developer at a University and he has his degree in graphic design. So if you're looking for someone to do your site let me know. He has a website if you're interested.

I'll try and get the shirt templates done, so you can see them all. | Hmmmmm, I am very interested in getting a few shirts... would you suggest waiting until you have everything set up? Or...? |

I'm still working on the orchid shirt, it's also on black, but I could perhaps work it out on a brown |

| Not sure how you're doing these transfers, but I assume you know about the iron-on transfers for dark colors versus the "regular" transfers that are clear? I stay away from the clear ones and use the others even on white shirts now because the colors stay so much more vibrant and the "wax paper-ish" coating you put on top of the for-dark ones keeps the color intact longer after washing.
I worked in the screenprint industry for a while as a designer and only recently changed jobs. I'd be glad to give you some pointers or answer any questions you might have about screenprinting and designing for it. One thing I can tell you is that if and when you do start getting designs screenprinted you're going to have to calm down with designs. You've got SO many (a rush of creativity is great, though!) that there's just no way you could screenprint them all economically. I'll go into more detail if you'll PM me or drop me an e-mail so I'm not cluttering it up in your thread. Great looking stuff, though.

| We already have that figured......we thought about--we we do start screening--starting with about 5 designs. We started out using the dark transfers, however, with some of the designs, it's practically impossible to use them. The clear transfers have worked rather well for us...just as well as the darker ones, if not better. With either one, as long as they're washed correctly, they work out wonderfully.
Thanks though brent We will definitely ask you if we have questions. Quote: |

| Just FYI, but you can also get transfers screenprinted instead of printing just shirts. They look just like a regular screenprinted shirt once applied correctly. Printed with the same inks and everything and only the ink is transferred, so no worries about a shiny plastic film around the image or having to cut out around it. That way you don't have to commit to certain shirt colors and can do 5 on brown, 3 on pink and 7 on orange if you want to as long as you've got a white underbase in your design so it can be transferred on any color shirt.
If I were you I would start out with the designs that have your name the most prominent on them, where it's the focal point...not the ones that have a design and then the name in an 'alternative' location or where the name isn't the main interest. That way the name is the focus for the first few designs so you can get some brand recognition and then move on to the more graphically-based designs with your name in alternate places. Good examples of starting designs would be the one in your sig, Patchwork is a great one, maybe betterbutter (the letterstyle bothers me for some reason...), perhaps the one with the daisy, the one with the kiddy slide...might even say the skyride one, too, if you make the name a bit more prominent.
Your number of colors in your designs can quickly make the price of screenprinting skyrocket as well. Anything going on a white t-shirt can be printed in 4-color process if it's more than a 4-color design to save money, but the colors will never be as vibrant as using spot colors that way and process only works well on white garments. In order to save money on art/setup fees it's also best to design using Illustrator so you can assign each shape in your design a spot color. Illustrator would also allow you to scale your designs as large or as small as needed as long as you aren't using any raster-based images (photos or other non-vector art). If not Illustrator then it's best to use Channels in Photoshop and have a seperate channel for each color you're using, though it can get more complicated that way. If you need help with color seperations to save more cash just let me know, too, because I can do those for you...no charge except for a free shirt now and then. (c:
Important screenprinting notes... The more you print, the cheaper the price per piece. You are also free to supply your own shirts for printing to a screenprinter, but you probably won't get any pricebreaks that way on the printing...but could save money in the long-run anyway. Keep your eyes open for deals where places go out of business and are selling a bunch of blank shirts for cheap...you may find 100 tees for $20 somewhere if you're lucky. Some of the distributors like SanMar will also sell wholesale to individuals and, if you use your company name, it probably wouldn't even matter anyway. Also, there is no reason you can't divide a print job up among different colored shirts, either. Say you have a design that looks good on dark colors. There's typically no price difference for the actual print if you do 10 each of 5 different color shirts for a 50 piece job. Only difference is some shirt colors cost more than others (darker is more generally, softer is more also), but if you supply your own there wouldn't be a difference. I've printed 18 shirts before with 16 different colors when I did a design for my friends and let them pick their shirt color. The hardest part was creating a design that worked on that many colors, but I did. I can ramble and be an encyclopedia of knowledge, so hopefully that helps somehow!
