usa custom guitars - bodies - sale!

fyi, usa custom guitars (the place i got the body for my latest guitar) is having an anniversary sale in which they are offering 3 piece bodies (s or t style) for $99..
if you want a solid color finish anyways (which will cover up any undesirable cosmetic issues from having a 3 piece) this is a good deal on an american made body..you pick your routing options (top routed only i think at that price).

the routing is included in that price from what i understand. they do that for you.
i can't think of any right off hand. but A LOT of what you need to know will be setup.
assembly is fairly straightforward if you by parts already ready to go (holes drilled and all) usa custom guitars bodies generally come with the bridge mounting holes drilled and the neck mounting holes drilled as well. so if you got a neck that had the holes already drilled in it you wouldn't have to drill those either. just bolt it on and make sure it fits tight. other than that, there's installing the tuners and string nut work and other setup related things. i don't know of any specific links related to assembly but i'm sure if you do a search on yahoo or something you could find some. maybe www.projectguitar.com has some articles on that..
as far as finishing goes, check out:
www.reranch.com lots of free info there..

i do basically all of my work with a hand drill, sandpaper, screwdrivers, and allen wrenches...

when it means a 3 piece body, does that mean only the main lower body... or the neck an head as well?? with the price of wood be a good deal either way i'd say... haha

I know you'd need the electronics... what else would you need?
an when it's all said an done would it be a high quality guitar?? well i'd go in the direction of a bass... an bout how much would it cost to put together a high quality one?

price wise, which would be cheeper?

this is speaking of the bodies only. not necks.

price depends on the parts you use. you need: body, neck, tuning machines, bridge, string nut, strap buttons, electronics (pickups, wiring, etc)...

quality depends on the parts as well as your ability to put them together and get the guitar set up right and such. you can come out with a very high quality guitar if you do everything right and get good parts.

it's mostly just using screwdrivers and allen wrenches and such. and sometime a drill depending on what all has been done on the parts. you will absolutely have to know how to setup a guitar properly though once it's together. if not you'll have to pay someone to do it. if you do a web search for guitar setup you should be able to find quite a few resources for that. and when/if you decide to go through with this and get to a specific question, ask here. lots of people to help.

prices can vary greatly. just check into the exact parts you might be interested in. some places to look at:

www.warmoth.com
