Hamlet Essay

I need to write an essay about how one or more of the following are Foils for Hamlet: Horatio, Fortinbras, and Laertes. Any suggestions?

Laertes is the most obvious, but for a more interesting essay you may be able to pull off Fortinbras with the whole dead father thing.

Plus Hamlet failed (kind of), while Fortinbras succeeded where his father failed.

They both have the same name as their father.

My Hamlet paper was on religion in Hamlet.

Though the Horatio/Hamlet foil has a lot of good quotes you can use...but the Laertes one is the most obvious parallel. Though sometimes when writing an essay the obvious parallel isn't the best one to choose, simply because your essay ends up being short because you run out of things to say, and also just like every other essay the teacher gets. so if you can pull off the less obvious contrast, it'll look better for ya
