Thumbs up An old drummer

I'm an Art Blakey fan. Even if he scared his band members most the time.

I've been listening to jazz forever and have had the pleasure of seeing many superb artists in concert. I've got a ton of different artist that I admire some of my favorites are:
Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, Al Dimeola, Art Tatum, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Louis Armstrong (one of the earliest poineers of jazz), Pat Metheny, The Modern Jazz Quatet, Carlie Parker, Rob McConnel, I could go on and on, just too many to list here.

I've seen Maynard in concert several times, and he was fantastic (although still great his chops are no longer what they once were), but if you are a Maynard fan also check out Arturo Sandoval. I've played with several big bands, and altough the music is fun to play, I find playing the stock big band arrangements can get kind of old. I get more satisfaction listening to and playing in small jazz ensembles, trios, quartets, etc. I find the small groups have more room to improve and be spontaneous.

If you are talking Saxophonists I'd have to add Charlie Parker to the list.
