Well, I played guitar in both. Synth in a few songs in pep band. (yeah we played the final countdown.) But that's off topic.

Anybody like Glenn Miller?

It doesn't get any better than Chick Corea for me.

Dave Brubeck is right up there as well, though.

In the Mood all the way.. I know that sounds like I don't know any of his other songs, but I do, that one's wonderful...

american patrol was another, i never played it, but it had a great trumpet solo in it, which came from nowhere and just blared across the music.

similar sort of era, i really like duke ellington stuff

creole love song, mood indigo... some nice trombone stuff

For really old stuff, I turn to the classic Gillespie. Miller just doesn't have any soul for me. I don't get the big band movement at all. Bebop all the way.
Coming behind that is Brubeck.
If we're allowed to state more... recently developed artists, then I have to say that everyone should go listen to some Brad Mehldau. It will make you a more complete human being. *solemn*

Mr. ES-335 himself, Larry Carlton. I also really liked The Crusaders, Lee Ritenour and George Benson (loved his octave soloing).

Check out the version of Manteca he played with Kenny Clarke. It's amazing. Especially considering the normal version of Manteca is pretty lackluster.

Singer: Annie Sellick (www.anniesellick.com)

Soft/Modern Jazz: Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond (the pair of them are unbeatable together), Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Charlie Byrd (guitar), Modern Jazz Quartet, George Russell, Thelonious Monk (I like his naivism in music), Niels Henning Oersted Pedersen (double bass, probably the best bassist ever)... and the list goes on.

Since I discoverd Freddie Hubbard he has been the man.

McCoy Tyner is the sound of a piano for me.

Michael Brecker will be missed.

If I had spare money their pressence on an album, even as a sideman, would put a CD in the buy category.

Hi folks,

Jazz is my kind of music.

I love to listen jazz-flavored numbers and I'm the big fan of Shaun Barrowes in the world of jazz.
