Bela Fleck and the 'tones' they're awesome. The drummer plays a synth-axe drumitar, its really crazy.

Winton Marsalis and Maynard Feguson are my favorite. I play trumpet and Maynard does things which make my lips hurt in sympathy. I saw him in concert and sat about 40 yards away and still wish that I had brought my ear plugs he was so loud.

Miles Davis is awesome, who cares that it is cliche, kind of blue is a brilliant album
Ray anderson is a great jazz trombonist, check out his 'where home is' CD if you can, incredible stuff!

I play trombone so i will defintly check out Ray Anderson he's got some good stuff on his site. Other trombonist I dig are J.J Johnson and Frank Rosalino ( i think thats how you spell it)

As for jazz in general I like Thelonious Monk and Wayne Shorter

No, Charlie Parker was Bird. Birdland is a club named in his honor, and Weather Report wrote the song "Birdland" as an homage to both of them.
