actually if you have a fat strat u can put single coils in them.. you just have to get a new pickguard

If a kit guitar was gonna be my first guitar I would go with a Cavin kit. Unless you want the guitar black and/or with trem the kit will cost $300(if they're still on sale), if not they're $350. With the trem and black body it should be around $350-400+. You can get alot of different options like different pickups, pickguards, and even hardwear color. So I would look into that.
