| Holst's "The Planets" -- favorite "planet"? What is your favorite song/planet on Gustav Holst's "The Planets"
Mine is "Jupiter", followed very very closely by "Mars". "Venus" is soothing. "Saturn" is neat.
I like them all, but I love "Jupiter", especially the slow-tune in the middle.

| I'm only familiar with Mars, and it kind of makes my head hurt.

| we played these in my uni orchestra last term, it was awesome!
mars was my favourite to play but they are all nice. the ending of neptune was incredible, we performed it in a cathedral and the choir were out of sight so it just ended with these voices coming from nowhere and echoing round the building - magical

| Probably Mars....our drumline did it a few years ago, and it had some insane snare parts! But the Cavalier's verision a few years ago was stellar. |

I don't necessarily know how 'odd' 5/4 is.
And Epaphras, you're right, Cavaliers version is amazing. |

| mars is pretty much the best arrangement of the history of mankind. ok, a bit of an overstatement, but any song that flashes memories of star wars AND halo has to be pretty friggin sweet. |

| Jupiter. I guess Holst was ahead of his time, now that they've decided Pluto is no longer a planet. |

| Saturn Personally I love Saturn. It's more challenging to listen to. |
