sorry if there was another thread about this or something, or if it's not in the right forum - but I'm in kind of a sticky situation. so I'm starting to play bass for my church's worship team...theres one last thing i need to know. its hard to describe, so I'll use an example...please no comments on who it's by or anything, I'm not asking about that.

I know where the notes are on each string and all, but I don't know on which string [E, A, D, or G - or D A D G because this is in drop D] to play - or how many times. Thanks for any help...even like a tutorial would work. Thanks. [And I have looked at the lessons here on CGR]

do you mean like on the D string (the one that used to be E before you tuned it down) there's the D-D#-E-F-F#? or are you not sure which octave note you want to hit? if that is the case then it really doesn't matter as long as it sounds good. hope this helped..

It doesn't matter. A D will be a D no matter what octave you play it in. You can adapt which octave to the stylings of the song. This is skillet, and by that you can infer that you'll probably want to play all the notes as low as possible. Just make sure you're playing the right note, more so than if you're playing the right octave.

i play bass for my church's praise team and it's pretty easy. you usually want to play as low as possible unless you think it'll sound better up higher and then when you get that down, you can get creative and make up a pattern or a bass line that fits in that key.

you said you know the notes on each string but not which string, then im sorry but you don't know your notes.


if in drop d you also must realize that E string 2 is not f# anymore its E (or Eb , pretty sure its E thought)

yu play each note wih the words like

G D
god god god jesus jesus jesus

change to D at jesus, simple as that, well for the most part

but i see the music you have isnt like that, so just listen for the chord changes from guitar or on a cd or something
