The LIGHT Came To A DARK World

"The LIGHT Came To A DARK World"
By: Zach Wood
John 1:14 (NLT)
So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.
And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father.

A few weeks ago, I attended a worship service where we sang, "Here I Am To Worship" written by Tim Hughes. This song has been around for many years, but when I sang it this time, I was mesmerized by the first few lines I sang, "Light of the world, you stepped down into darkness, opened my eyes, let me see." Since that day, I've thought of the song and now look at this verse in amazement! I think about God being in all of His splendor and glory in Heaven. He saw how corrupt this world was and loved us so much that He did something about it. God stepped out of Heaven into a form of human flesh to rescue this world from sin. This vision brings an unexplainable awe to my heart.

When I consider God stepping onto this earth to live in a world drenched in sin, I realize that I take for granted how much He loves me, how faithful He has been, still is and always will be. God made it possible for us to get a glimpse of His glory in Jesus Christ. You would think a love like that would be received and appreciated all over. Sad to say it didn't happen. Some followed and believed, but many didn't appreciate Him whatsoever. How many of us truly appreciate what He has done and return love and faithfulness back to Him? There is NOTHING greater in the world than what God did for us by sending Jesus, but sometimes we live like He never came or we act like it's just some past event. We are so caught up in the busyness of the world that we tend to forget the importance of the Light coming into a Dark world. The more we are caught up in this world, the darker our lives become.

I don't like going into rooms or buildings when they are dark. I need some light to find my way. Finding the light switch can be troublesome, especially when some part of my body meets an unexpected barrier called furniture. I do whatever I can to get some light into the room so that I can see. God did the same for us. He turned on the "Light Switch" so that we could see who He is and how much He truly loves us. Are our eyes really opened to see Him and follow Him? Does His beauty draw you into His presence more each day? Is His Light more attractive to you than the Dark world?

Consider, more than you ever have before, what God has done . He stepped down into a darkened world so that we could have the opportunity to see His Love and receive Him and live for eternity. That Light wants to live and shine brightly in each one of us. If we have a true appreciation for Him, then His love will shine through us.
