This may be the case for your particular guitar but there has been a lot of discussion about this. There are some guitars where the necks were made and finished in 2003 but they were assembled on the line for 2004 guitars. The serial number correctly states 2003 but it really did not get all put together until the 2004 run. All in all, it is a guitar made for the 50th anniversary but not a 50th anniversary limited edition guitar. Did that make sense?

Yes that is probably what happened. I believe I described it wrong, but your description is accurate. It probably was a 50th anniversary guitar...but not a limited edition (which is only sunburst).


I have pics of the guitar on this thread. I love it to death, I think it's awesome
