| Do I get to look forward to a ginormous post with these "other things" you have to say?
Also, thanks for rubbing it in. That game was intense to say the least, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised that Texas did not blow Ohio State away. So you can say all you want, but Ohio State did better than everyone thought they would. So I'm okay with the season, besides they beat Michigan, so in my book it was a good season already without the bowl game.

Where are you from? | Hey Matt, I haven't met you, but you seem to be a cool dude. I'm from Texas. The Southern part at that. I'm sure it's pretty cold up there in Virginia right now. Quote:

So glad you got to be home for Christmas. My goodness - it was almost a month ago! | I don't know. One boss (the guy who runs Louisiana) tells me I'll like working up here and we have 5 years of contracts to fulfill. My other boss (the one from Houston) tells me not to get too comfortable up here that it is a short term thing. I'm just happy to be working at the moment, we had to lay off 16 guys in my position. I am still lined up to take a supervisors position in South Texas, but at the moment, we have 1 rig running down there for me to supervise...so we are waiting for Mr. Obama to fix the economy so drilling will pick up. The other things are: I was hoping Peyton could pull off another few wins and take home another Super Bowl win. Now I am just hoping him and Eli can pull off a win in Oreo Lick Races against the Williams sisters. I am officially a temporary Cardinals fan. I hate dislike the Steelers. Not really all the Steelers, just Ben Rothleisburger. I happen to like Hines Ward very much.
I haven't paid very much attention to the rest of the nation, but so far Colt and Graham are going to stay on for another year. So that is good for college projection s next year. Although Tech is probably going to lose Crabtree. I'd enter the draft if I were him.

I'm having church problems. I think my church leadership is doing some really strange things. I am on church leadership (for over a year now). Do I stay and keep my mouth shut and wait for God to zap 'em with a bolt of lightning? Do I stay and fight the good fight? Do I throw in the towel and find another group of people to fellowship with? This is roll over from Drama 2008, so I am hoping not to have to deal with it in Drama-free 2009. I'm not going to discuss it here, I mainly just need lots of prayers.
We pulled Laney from Christian School and enrolled her in public after the Christmas break. Don't get me wrong, I am a big advocate of Christian Education, but I think this was the best decision we've ever made. She was having problems with the other girls in her age group that has stretched over a year and a half. We went through all the channels to try to resolve it; talked with her teacher, talked with the parents of the girl who instigated most of it. We weren't getting any results, so I pulled her. She was picked on every day because she was 'too nice' and 'always polite'. I know she will deal with those kinds of things in any school, but at least she has more people to choose from for friends, instead of the 5 at her old school. She told me that she could take the teasing and being left out of the main group if she just had one friend....
Now after a few short weeks, my old Laney is back. Happy, smiling, wanting to go to school again. She has 4 girls that just took her in the first week and she is having a great time with them. Seth...he is oblivious. He loves his school and teacher, so we left him in school there. Both of those were hard decisions. I really liked the control and comfort I had over a small private Christian school. Now in public, I am just one of 200 parents, and just have to *gasp* let go.
Things are going pretty well, all in all. I am ready to go home. It is 9 hours away.
God is good...all the time!

| We are not neighbors. I have no plans to live anywhere near Texas. After school I'm looking at moving to Colorado, Arizona, or California to teach.

And if I moved near Mac Brown it would only be to teepee his (and your) house daily and nightly and ever so rightly.

| Well, nothing interesting has happened the past two weeks in Louisiana. Besides being colder than usual (which is a plus for me) it is pretty much the same work as South Texas. I get to go home tomorrow. I can't wait to see Amy and the kids. Hopefully there is no ice on the roads in the morning. So, I should be gone for a week and then be back up here. Good times.
Amy and I are thinking of holding a bible study/fellowship in our home twice a month or so with the young adults in our church....actually they don't go to our church anymore...our church doesn't have anything for them. We had something on Wednesdays but it got lost in the fold I guess. We were leading that and they all still call us and ask when we are going to have it again so we are considering having something for them like on a Thursday or Friday night. Any suggestions, tips, ideas?

One the third Sunday of every month we get together for Vox: Feast, where someone different each time holds a dinner at their house from different countries and people bring food that are native to that country. Or we go out to eat. And then once a month after the bible study we all do something like bowling, go karting, putt putt golfing, go see a movie.... it's a fun time.

That sounds very similar to what I have in my head for this thing. Excepting that Amy and I would lead/facilitate the whole thing and we are older than all of the people in the group. These guys are all 18 to 30 yrs old.

However, they have an open invitation to any denomination in the four county area, (basically anyone who wants to come can come). The ages allowed are 18-35.
