| Problems with my youth group :( hey everyone,
i should probably start off by saying that i go to a very small church and the youth group maybe has like 8 devoted members(we dont even have a youth pastor). the problem is i just started going to a new highschool and God has blessed me with an awesome group of friends who i have met through marching band and we are all starting a bible study, and i get a whole lot more out of this bible study that i have ever gotten at my church. when i told my friend from youth group she got really mad and was like i dont believe ur leaving the church and blew everything way out of preportion. i just need some help i mean i dont kno if i should stay with my church that i dont get alot from and isnt fullfilling my spiritual needs when i can be going to this awesome bible study and youth meetings which i get alot more out of....please help it would be awesome thanx alot guys! |

#2 | | Dragon of Spirit | Well, if you aren't receiving enough to fulfill your needs spiritually, then I'd say go for a change. If anyone asks why, tell them the truth. Do you want to be the type of Christian to grow in Christ, or do you want to stay where you are, sacrificing your growth, just to make people happy? Yes, there are going to be angry people. Yes, there are going to be hurt people. And yes, some of those people may say wicked hurtful things about you and spread them around. If the church is as spiritually stagnant as you are saying then I'd expect it. (A church doesn't get that way for nothing).
However, reading over your post again, were you leaving your current church just for the Bible study? Or are you planning on attending your friends' church as well?

| I say try to stick with it. Try to get things rolling in the right direction with your Youth Group. Take a leadership role, and plan Bible studies and such. |

| I don't really get what I need from my youth group either. I am still there because I know I'm supposed to be there to make it good. So many times though, I just get so frustrated with it, and that's when I have a break and go to my friend's youth group, which is an awesome youth. I also go to cell group at another church. |

| I don't understand what the problem is. Its very easy to both have a Bible Study and have a church. In fact, I wouldn't ever suggest replacing your church with just a Bible study. You need both. Church SHOULD provide more than just a lesson. There is so much more that you should learning from it. At a church you learn from adults around you and you yourself can teach those younger than you. However, with a Bible study its normally a peer group. Thus you are very limited in what you can learn. So you need to go to church AND have Bible studies. |
