every story has to have comic relief.

I didn't say Simba killed Mufasa. I said Simba killed Scar. and Simba killed Scar of his own accord to avenge his father, just as Hamlet killed Claudius to avenge his own father.

I just don't see Macbeth in this.

to be horribly picky, the hyenas killed Scar. Simba just tossed Scar to them.

well, okay...but Simba went with the intent to kill Scar. it just wouldn't be very kid-friendly if the hero was a killer, too.

She's Ophelia. Except she gets the Disney ending where she doesn't go insane and doesn't drown. Except Simba did pull her into the lagoon.

And they made love with Elton John playing in the background.

Rozencrantz and Gildenstern - comic relief. Dynamic duo. Hardly adept. Failed to kill Hamlet.

Timone and Pumba have a different purpose, but fit the same mold.

right, the roles also could have been split. The hyenas could have been the rosencrantz and gildenstern that were to kill Hamlet but failed.

I think it's a merging of both books, accually. You can't deny the Hamlet parts, yet there are aspects of Macbeth as well.

scar and macbeth had the same character flaw, too much ambition.

Yes but Claudius had the same flaw as well. Plus he married his sister-in-law. I did also find another similarity between Hamlet and Simba though. Their reluctance to do what they have to do to make things right.
