Right Side Thief has Production Deal

I am a 34 year old Songwriter in Ebensburg,PA (Northeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ), who obtained a development/production deal from a Christian investment banker from the area.

I just finished recording a 10 song demo under my band/studio band name of Right Side Thief. Based on the demo, the investment banker would like me to re-record the songs for a formal album for him to release and promote.

Right now the sound has been compared to Kansas and Petra. What we are shooting for in the re-recording is more Dream Theater meets HoobastanK meets Mercy Me.

Below are links to some samples from the demo. Let me Know what you think about the songs and the recording quality.

Demos

http://www.evanstoncapital.ro/music/...ssip_02_96.mp3 [Gossip]
http://www.evanstoncapital.ro/music/...20Me_03_96.mp3 [Tell Me]

If You think they are too retro or progressive sounding, I wouldn't disagree. In looking to record again, the songs are going to be further modernized and restructured, including more guitar and less keyboards.

The track "AInsignificance" right now represents the closest to the sound being targeted, but even that will be tweaked.

If you are interested in being involved in the re-recording as well any prospective touring band, see my post for musicians below:

So let me get this straight... Kansas + Petra + Dream Theatre + Hoobastank + MercyMe = Right Side Thief??? That's quite an interesting mix of styles/genres. I'll give it a listen when I get a chance and I'll let you know how it sounds.

Congratulations on the production deal.

In His love,
Nate

Sounds pretty good. It reminds me of Rush in places. I would say that the recording is pretty good, but I think the song would sound much better with real strings and and so forth instead of the keyboards. Also, the same goes for that saxophone synth at the beginning. I don't know if that will matter in the final recording though if you're going to do away with the keyboards.

Rush/Dream Theater - yes, that's the prog, multi-orchestrated approach that we are seeking to mix with modern hard rock and pop.

Yeah, that sounds like it could be difficult; but if you pull it off right, I think it could go over big. By the way, the song I listened to was AInsignifigance, I forgot to mention that. I wrote that post in a hurry yesterday. I have dialup, so it's hard for me to download more than one. If you get a Purevolume or Soundclick page when you're done with the record, I'll be sure to check it all out though.

I definitely hear the Petra...mostly old Petra. It comes through strongly in the vocals, and, from what I can tell, in the lyrics. IMO, the vocals are what needs the most work. The singer needs to put a lot more oomph into the delivery. I also think this music would work well with an Amy Lee type female vocal. Instrumentals are pretty solid...just the voice doesn't reach out and grab my face.

ApparentlyNothing:I listened to some of your songs man, and it sounds pretty cool. Very prog rock influenced. Not sure how you would fit a Linkin Park/Hoobastank sound in with it, but if you can it'll be pretty unique, which is what you gotta do if you really want to get anywhere. You should make a new thread for your band . More people might take notice that way.

EDIT: You already have made a seperate thread. I didnt notice it.

ApparentlyNothing. Hope you don't mind me moving your comments on Right Side Thief's demos to this thread so everyone else can read and compare.
