Third Day Rolls Out Plans for 44-City Live Wire Tour

GRAMMY and Dove Award winning rock band Third Day is rolling out the plans for its anticipated 44-city Live Wire Tour, which kicks off Sept. 30 in Champaign, Ill. The tour will hit arenas and coliseums in major markets across the country including Chicago, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Detroit, Jacksonville, Knoxville, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Colorado Springs and many more, wrapping up on Dec. 11.

Returning to tour with Third Day this fall will be rock/hip-hop innovator tobyMac, who will be introducing new music from his forthcoming project, Welcome to Diverse City. Brand new rockers Day of Fire will be special guest openers during the tour's first half, while the Camas, Wash.-based indie band Hyper Static Union will round out the line-up during the last half of the tour.

"I really couldn't be more excited about this fall tour," says Third Day's Mac Powell. "Not only are we going to be able to play some new music for our fans, we'll be able to hear some new music from one of my favorite artists and touring mates, tobyMac. With the success of the spring tour, we are expectant of even bigger and better things."

"I can't tell you how excited I am to be back out on tour with the guys in Third Day," says tobyMac. "We had a great time onstage as well as backstage during the spring tour and now with us both having new albums out I feel like this tour is going to go to the next level. We 'bout to blow this thing up for real!"

Continuing its long-term relationship with Third Day, Chevrolet will again sponsor the Live Wire Tour. Additional tour partners include World Vision, with a focus on its Hope Child Initiative, and Habitat for Humanity. Third Day will be donating $1 per ticket toward Habitat's foreign and domestic aid, focusing primarily on African areas hit with the AIDS/HIV pandemic.

"We can't wait to kick off this fall season, as it promises to be one of the most rocking musical experiences in Third Day's career history," says manager David Huffman, chief operating officer of Creative Trust, Inc. "Our friends at Chevrolet will provide some of the most innovative electronic tour marketing to date. The band will be working diligently to raise awareness of our social and faith-based responsibilities to vote in the upcoming election; to educate and meet needs about the AIDS pandemic through World Vision; and to generate revenue and opportunity to build homes both domestically and internationally through Habitat for Humanity. Our whole team is wired in every area."

When purchasing tickets to the Live Wire Tour, concertgoers will have the option to buy general admission tickets that allow floor access for a standing-room-only section of each venue. This ticket option became a huge hit with Third Day fans during the band's spring tour, with the special general admission ticket sales increasing as word-of-mouth spread.

"We had an incredible spring tour and are excited about continuing that momentum in the fall," says Third Day's Tai Anderson. "We will be providing fans with the best value in a show, period! The general admission seating has added a whole new level of Third Day fan interaction."

"Third Day consistently provides a top-notch performance not only because they enjoy what they do, but because they want to be sure their audience will walk away feeling the very same emotion," adds promoter Michael Scanland, of Concert Services, Inc. "They go the extra mile when it comes to interviews and pre-promoting their appearances. We've just wrapped up several major festival dates with Third Day and had some of the best attendances in the history of the events! But most importantly, the message of hope and redemption they provide to the audience shines through in powerful presentation void of pretension or reluctance. Thank you, Third Day and Toby! We look forward to the fall tour!"

The Live Wire Tour follows the hugely successful release of Third Day's latest studio album, Wire, earlier this year on Essential Records. Debuting at No.1 on Nielsen SoundScan's Top Christian Albums chart and No. 12 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart in its first week, Wire has shipped nearly 450,000 units in just three months. In addition to a 2004 GRAMMY nomination for Offerings II All I Have to Give, and being referred to as the 'touring band of the year' by promoters for the past three years, Third Day was also honored with an American Music Award nomination (2003). The band received a GRAMMY in 2003 for Come Together and honors from ASCAP in the Song of the Year category. Over its 11-year career, the five-piece rock band has garnered 19 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, 20 No.1 radio singles and is nearing the four million mark in career sales. Third Day's success on tour is unparalleled with an audience of more than 750,000 in 2002 and ranking twice on touring magazine Pollstar's "Top 100 Tours of 2002" list, above acts like Counting Crows and Alanis Morissette. TobyMac will be touring in support of his brand new ForeFront/EMI-CMG release, Welcome to Diverse City, which hits stores on Oct. 5. As co-founder of one of the most successful Christian groups of all time, dcTalk, tobyMac has sold over seven million records, received four GRAMMY Awards and numerous Dove Award nominations and wins. TobyMac's solo debut, Momentum, entered at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and quickly gained sales of nearly 330,000 units, two No. 1 singles ("Extreme Days" and "Somebody's Watching Me"), a GRAMMY Award nomination and more than 15 Dove Award nominations (with six wins). Day of Fire recently wrapped recording on its national self-titled debut, releasing Oct. 26 on Essential Records. Frontman Joshua Brown is the former lead singer of mainstream rock band Full Devil Jacket (Island/Def Jam Records) who turned away from his rock-star lifestyle after surviving a heroin overdose and surrendering his life to God while in rehabilitation. Day of Fire is currently performing on the main stage at major festivals this summer including Atlantafest, ALIVE Fest, Creation East, Creation West and Spirit West Coast. The band's first radio single is set to release in August to CHR/Rock formats.

Hyper Static Union's propulsive sound comes from a fusion of funk and rock, drawn from influences as diverse as Stevie Wonder and James Brown to The Foo Fighters and Lenny Kravitz. The five-man band, fronted by singer Shawn Lewis, has developed a dedicated following in the Northwest thanks to opening slots for artists such as Michael W. Smith, Eve 6, Better Than Ezra and Switchfoot, and are working on the follow-up to their 2003 independent release Entropy Automatic.

TobyMac? what an odd pairing. I wonder how much these wonderful tickets are going to cost.

It looks like the tickets are going to cost $26 or $27. Of that, one dollar will be donated.

The scary thing about this pairing of Toby Mac and Third Day is that it's working.
