I already saw them at the Orlando House of Blues with Saves the Day. I'm not a huge fan of StD (haha, I just realized what an awful acronym that is), but Say Anything was amazing, and the band that opened for them has become one of my favorites. |

#64 | | ♥ Mrs. Skeeter ♥ | Hrm. I hope I like the album more than I like the first song. It's good, but I feel a little let down somehow. The last minute of the song is really underwhelming. Perhaps it's meant to build up to the second track. I want to hear more!

I liked it when it dropped out to the outro, but I was expecting it to go somewhere instead of just repeating for a minute. However, like you said, it could just be a build up to another track...of course, if thats the case it probably wasn't the best choice for a first peak at the new material.
If I heard this song as a leaked track I probably wouldn't be worried, but since this is the track they chose to introduce us to the material, I'm somewhat worried. |

I too was kind of disappointed with how the outro sounded like it was building up to something bigger and then just puttered out.
I'm still looking forward to hearing some more of the new material though.

| Count me underwhelmed but still hopeful. Way waaaay too conventional for the first couple of minutes.

#68 | | !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | I always think of Say Anything as a album band far more than a singles band. The new song didn't do much, but I feel it fits in excellently with the whole of the package.
I'm interested, so say the least.

| I agree with the litguyian one. When I heard the first couple songs on ...is a Real Boy, I was very underwhelmed. I was excited to listen to the album because of the hype I heard from Jeff and Sean on CGR and wasn't really impressed at first. But the more I listened to it, the more I fell in love with the album as a whole. |

| Hmmm...I'm going to have to disagree. With ...is a real boy, I thought they were a band who had released a magnificent, cohesive album that song by song was great (only "Molly" seemed a bit conventional, but still was a fun song). Since Say Anything only has one album out, it's kind of hard to characterize them yet. The extra tracks added on the real boy re-release were, save for "Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too," pretty bad. But I feel that most of the songs on real boy work very well on their own ("Slowly, through a Vector," "Belt," "Yellow Cat//Red Cat"), while also building a great album.

In any case, I am still sure the album will be good rather than bad.

| I found "Belt" very underwhelming as an opening song. My spirits were buoyed by "Woe," but I was still skeptical at that point. " I was still skeptical after "The Writhing South," but "Alive With the Glory of Love" turned things around for me. It took multiple listens to grow to love "Belt," though. I mean, I love every song on the album now and it's one of my favorite albums, but I was initially underwhelmed on my first listen. It struck me as an album with a couple very good songs and a bunch of average ones, which wasn't what I was hoping for. |

| After hearing the first minute or so of Belt I knew that I'd love the whole album.

| I heard "Molly" on the radio about a month before the CD came out, and then went home to find out more about the band. I found the demo of "Woe" on their sound click, and I was hooked from those two songs. |

| Actually, "The Most Beautiful Plague" is one of my favorite songs by them. I find it odd that a lot of people here don't like the bonus EP.
