my aunt Shirley has been playing since she was like 5, she took like 6 weeks of piano lessons, and then she just started playing by ear, she has played the organ guitar and piano, she is so cool, she cant read music or anything, but she is the nicest person i know and she is teaching me to play by ear, even though i can read music. God gave her the gift of music, which is so cool

I started playing when I was 7 years old only because my friend was doing it. I learned a whole bunch of cords, music, and theory (which i absolutly dislike) I liked playing for a few years, but then I eventually got tired of it and wanted to quit, but my mom wouldn't let me. I finally was able to quit at like 13 or somewhere near that age. After I quit I've loved piano more than ever! I'm pretty good still and I play everyday. I guess it was just the fact that I was forced to play and practice made me not like it so much. Now i can play at my own free will and I love listening to it. Especially listening to my friend michael, he's amazing. He's been playing since he was two and wrote his first composition when he was 5! He came out with a CD when he was 12 (now 15). He's an absolute amazing genious!

Piano

I've been taking lessons for around 2 months, and I'm on like a 3rd grade level book, its awesome. I can read music, but I struggle with the bass cleff a little. I started teaching myselft piano like a year ago but I couldnt really progress that well by myself, so out of nowhere my mom asked me if I wanted to take piano lessons. and thats how it all started.

First, I learned to hate the instrument, thanks to "piano lessons." A few years later I fell in love with it by simply playing what I heard. I taught myself chord theory and learned to play practically anything my ear. And now I can read music as well. I think I've been playing about five years.

I hated piano lesson as well when I was young, I started taking piano lessons when I was 7, oh dude, I hated them. Just a few years ago I started to really appreciate it. Now I love it so much, I still have the same teacher as when I started. He's awesome. I'm like addicted to the piano now. I love to play.

I haven't even been playing for an entire year yet. I started playing when I switched my major to music and obviously had to take piano. I'm in Piano III now, and can play competently from sheet music, and I've started writing piano parts for my songs now. I'm also gonna be switching to keyboard (instead of guitar) in youth band, just to shake things up, and let the players who are going to be "taking" over after I leave for the university take a more heavy role in the instrumentation.

piano

I have taken nine years of lessons. over the last 2 or 3 years, i have really slacked off. I don't think I got any better over the last few years, until recently. i got to play at my school, piano man, and everyone loved it. now i love playing, but guitar has taken top priority. btw, billy joel rocks

I don't think there is any need to resurrect any 10 month old threads. Closed.
