Well, the Bible makes it pretty clear that for Christians, we will be immediately with Christ after death, even before the resurrection of our bodies at the end of the world:
"We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."
"I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body." (Php 1:23-24)
So in some sense we must be judged immediately after death, since when we die we will immediately be with Christ or without.
