Yup... and when you sell your books back you'll be lucky if you get $50 for all of them! Welcome to college, ladies and gentlemen!

I hate that. I have never sold any of my textbooks for that reason. plus..some of them are pretty good. but the main reason is because you pay a ridiculous amount for them and then get nothing back.

oh. one more piece of advice. apply for as many scholarships as you can. there are a ton out there...all you have to do is apply. seriously..go do it. right now.

Yup... that's usually how it goes.

Speaking of book costs... I only need 3 books this semester and it'll set me back $400!!

I'm only taking 4 classes this semester and only one of them has more than one book. I have six books total and I got away for less than $300. I was actually pretty pleased. I'll likely keep most of my books from this semester, except maybe a couple of them.

Remember: The campus bookstore is not always (in fact, it's not usually) the best place to buy your books. Poke around online at amazon.com, half.com, and ebay.com... I saved over $75 using half.com, and that was only on two of my books.

Good call on the amazon.com and half.com, Ben... unfortunately I was only able to locate one of my books on either of those sites... still saved me $50 though!

Well, I started my first day of college on Tuesday - it's been interesting. Mostly like I expected.

Thankfully, I didn't have to pay for books or anything... it all came from the state of minnesota.

I would love to say that I'm looking forward to college, but I'm not.
I'm a senior in high school this year. All this fuss over it is kinda making me want to run to my mother and go back to the womb.

the real world scares me.

I'm taking a dual-credit class this year and I bought only one book. It costed me $100. It's ridiculous how much college textbooks cost.

I kinda felt the same way, but then I got here and all doubts were dispelled instantly. The human being is great at adapting to new situations--it won't be anywhere near as bad as you think. I spent the summer making myself sick with anxiety, then I got here and felt stupid because I love it so much.

The good news for you is that college has nothing to do with the real world.
