and tightening up your abdomen muscles, I mean flex, it helps you get more of an oomph behind the air coming out, without forcing it. and it helps it sound better.
What you mean is what is referred to as breathing from the diaphram (see vocal sticky) which is to allow the air to expand into your abdomen rather than in the chest cavity. Tensing the stomach muscles will keep the abdomen from expanding which will limit your breath control.

Better advice, be loose... Always be relaxed when singing or screaming, it helps your voice not to sound forced or be forced and helps you to not cut off your airflow.
+1

I've learned this in my singing lessons and it's helped my range and singing voice sound better when I try singing in the shower.

I've never had a problem with my breath control by using this method, I loosen up while inhaling, and while pushing the air out I tense up some, not too much, just a easy flex.

Hi I havent posted in this thread for a while, but I finally recorded my horrible attempt at screaming. sadly the stinking program would only let me record for 25 seconds so I chose the chorus (or part of it) from AILD's Illusions

I would like serious critique... no need to be gentle

ps if the attachment doesnt work I can email it to you.

This has nothing to do with the post... but get Audacity to record... If your program only allows 25 seconds...

Google it

Lol... I listened to some of your audio... Pretty good... I dont know the song, but what you were going for was good.... I noticed in one part you kinda faded back into (I am not sure what to call it), but into something more voiceish... Like it had more tone less scream, and I think that is something that will take practice... Other than that what i heard was good... Practice some more and I think you have something to work with.

Then there's a chance you may be messing up ur vocals if ur screaming with the back of ur throat. IDK, I heard if from a youtube video on how to scream a little while ago. Okay, here's another question then: How does it feel using the back of ur throat if u are?

Is the OP thinking of shouting and screaming as the same thing? Because I don't. I think of screaming as singing loud while rasping your vocal chords to make a angry or brutal sound completly different from regular singing. I think of shouting as simple singing very loudly. I really have no interest in screaming but I'd enjoy shouting. Will shouting hurt my vocal chords?

Depends. Do you feel pain in ur throat? Singing/shouting/screaming improperly tends to damage the vocal chords.

Ok I have done a few recordings... And well... I cannot figure what I am doing wrong... Everything sounds too airy... Like it sounds too much like a whisper... Unless I go lower...

Number one is the not so good one... And then number 2 is pretty bad but a bit better I think...

Should I try doing some recordings without music???

And the songs I tried were

1 - When Everything Falls - Haste the Day
2 - The Dawning Age - Nodes of Ranvier

Just the opening to both... And I didn't feel like singing on the second... Cause... I didn't lol...

And they are both bad sounding... And I am aware lol... Any tips on improvement?
