I have a solid-body electric and a dreadnaught acoustic.

Carvin and Fender and...

I guess either Gibson or Ibanez

I guess about 2.5.

Hammering and pulling off--
Hammering - 7, pulling off - 3

Quote:
Tapping--
Maybe a 6... I don't know, I can play some pretty good tapping on one or two strings but can't do any significant amount of string changing and I can't do taps in the middle of solos.

Trills--
I guess around a 5 but I don't use them.

Vibratos--
3 or 4... I need to work on them.

Bends--
About an 7 or 8 I guess. I can bend 1 and half steps fairly easily and can hit 2. I have a pretty good idea of when bends sound good and how to use them.

I can play them with ease but I don't know much about using them... I guess a 5 or 6.

my reply, okay???

How long have you been playing guitar?

I've been playing for about a year and a half, but these past 6 months I've picked up dramatically and put a day-and-night effort into my guitar.

What kind of guitar(s) do you own? (eg. electric, acoustic, bass, 7-string, 12-string, doubleneck, etc.)

I have a Washburn X20 Left-handed, and an Alvarez left-handed

What are your top 3 favorite guitar brands?

Right now Alvarez and Washburn, and I guess Gibson would be a third

Are you a left-handed player or right handed?

Left!!

How much experience do you have?
1--I have no clue who Jimmy Page is
2--I'm getting there, but still a beginner
3--There's not very much that I can't play
4--There's not very much that I can't pick up easily
5--Ok, tell me again why people say that Randy Rhoads is so awesome?

I'd say between 3 and 4. There's not really anything I don't think I could play; it's just a matter of picking it up. I mean, I know how all the tricks work and stuff.

How would you rate your skills on each of these tricks from 1 to 10? 1=worst 10=best
Hammering and pulling off--7; I'm not incredibly fast yet, but I've got some practice with em
Tapping--7; I think I just need to add a bit of speed to it
Trills--5; It's keeping the trilled notes clear that I need work on
Vibratos--8.5; I think these are kinda fun, so I tend to like em and useem a bit
Bends--7; I can bend up a whole step, but not a step and a half or two (except way high on the fretboard)
Harmonics--4; I only know how to do natural harmonics, I'm not too good with those, and I can't do pinch harmonics worth two bits yet

What's your speed average speed in Beats Per Minute?

I can manage about maybe 1/4 notes@220 BPM

What's the fastest speed that you've ever played?

1/4 notes @276 BPM

Are there any interesting tricks you can do, like play with your teeth, play upside down, etc.?

No, but I hope to learn to play with my teeth and solo with a drumstick as a pick

How well can you pick out notes by ear? Rate from 1 to 10 (1=worst 10=best)

1--It'd take me a half hour to tab out a 5 second riff

How well can you pick out chords by ear? Rate from 1 to 10 (1=worst 10=best)

1--I've never tried this

Do you use any music theory to help increase your skills? Why or why not? If so, what theory do you know that you've used?

Right now I'm working with scales and keys and making practice scales and solos with them.

When you submit tabs to this website or any other website, what accuracy ratings do they usually get?

I've only submitted one, and it got rejected because the file was the wrong format

Are there any songs that you can play twice as fast as the original artist?

Nope

How long have you been playing guitar?

2 years 6 months

What kind of guitar(s) do you own? (eg. electric, acoustic, bass, 7-string, 12-string, doubleneck, etc.)

3 Electrics and 1 acoustic... You can tell which I prefer to play, right?

What are your top 3 favorite guitar brands?

Gibson, Fender, Alvarez (Or MAYBE PRS)

Are you a left-handed player or right handed?

I'm a righty... But I write with my left hand... And yeah... I'm strange

Is experience equal to skill? If so, then I'm definately around 4 or 5.

How would you rate your skills on each of these tricks from 1 to 10? 1=worst 10=best
Hammering and pulling off-- 9
Tapping-- 7.5
Trills-- 8
Vibratos-- 10
Bends-- 8 or 9
Harmonics-- 8

What's your speed average speed in Beats Per Minute?

Run this question by me again.... Are we saying how fast can I play on a high speed without skipping a note? 16ths at about 150 is as fast as I can go with perfect accuracy.

What's the fastest speed that you've ever played?

16ths @ 200... Wasn't a very pretty sound

Are there any interesting tricks you can do, like play with your teeth, play upside down, etc.?

Is jumping, spinning, walking considered a trick? If not... Then no. Tried playing behind my head, but I almost lost my guitar doing that. Now I just play really good to impress people so I don't need tricks.

How well can you pick out notes by ear? Rate from 1 to 10 (1=worst 10=best)

Mmm... with my ear training now... Probably a 7.5

How well can you pick out chords by ear? Rate from 1 to 10 (1=worst 10=best)

8

Do you use any music theory to help increase your skills? Why or why not? If so, what theory do you know that you've used?

Every day. I build new chords, different voicings, and learn to play around different chords and progessions all the time. The only way to figure all that out efficiently is to use theory, so... And I always think about the Roman Numerals of the Chords I'm playing so that I can keep my bearings.

When you submit tabs to this website or any other website, what accuracy ratings do they usually get?

I only have 2 on here, but combined, they would have a 4.5

Are there any songs that you can play twice as fast as the original artist?

Name the slowest song on earth and I'll play it for ya

How long have you been playing guitar?

>>> 7ish years

What kind of guitar(s) do you own? (eg. electric, acoustic, bass, 7-string, 12-string, doubleneck, etc.)

>>> 2 electrics (1 assembled, 1 in pieces awaiting a paint-job)
>>> 2 acoustics (1 assembled, 1 without strings cause it's 50+ years old)
>>> 1 bass (that my friend is permanently borrowing)

What are your top 3 favorite guitar brands?

>>> Gibson
>>> Taylor
>>> Peavey (mainly for their amps)

Are you a left-handed player or right handed?

>>> Right-handed

How would you rate your skills on each of these tricks from 1 to 10? 1=worst 10=best
Hammering and pulling off-- 7 (just need to get the right-hand down)
Tapping-- 5 (working on this one)
Trills-- 4
Vibratos-- 9 (love em)
Bends-- 8
Harmonics-- 9 (pinch harmonics rock!)

What's your speed average speed in Beats Per Minute?

>>> Assuming you're talking about doing scales/arppegios, I'm at about 160 in 8th notes on average for solid runs (ie: clear without flubbing notes)

What's the fastest speed that you've ever played?

>>> 200ish, I think... I don't usually keep track

Are there any interesting tricks you can do, like play with your teeth, play upside down, etc.?

>>> Does playing without looking and while singing count?

How well can you pick out notes by ear? Rate from 1 to 10 (1=worst 10=best)

>>> 7 (better than most... decent relative pitch and not even close to perfect pitch)

How well can you pick out chords by ear? Rate from 1 to 10 (1=worst 10=best)

>>> 6 Not so good here... slightly better than the average player

Do you use any music theory to help increase your skills? Why or why not? If so, what theory do you know that you've used?

>>> All the time. I learned theory first, then started guitar. Add that to the fact that I'm a think-it-through kinda guy, so if it doesn't make sense in theory, I probably won't get it at all. The most common theory I use is simple whole-whole-half-whole-whole-whole-half intervals... using it to find notes for solos. I know all the modal theory, but it's extremely rare that I actually use it. I also use chord theory to find key signatures a lot, too (ex: if a song has G, C and Am... you know it's in the key of C or G, and most likely in C).

When you submit tabs to this website or any other website, what accuracy ratings do they usually get?

>>> Don't think I've ever submitted tab here. Most songs that I can tab are already done by the time I get to them.

Are there any songs that you can play twice as fast as the original artist?

>>> Doubt it... I assume that if it's possible to play something twice as fast, the artist can do it. But if you mean playing it twice as fast as the CD, then yes. My favorite to do that is Crazy Train (by Ozzy) and Chem 6a (by Switchfoot).

Trills-- 5
Vibratos-- 8
Bends-- 6
Harmonics-- 6

What's your speed average speed in Beats Per Minute?

Haven't got a clue but don't tend to play fast, i'd rather play a beautiful melodic tune/riff than just play millions of notes for the sake of it! (to quote The Edge: "if i could play one note for a whole piece i would")

What's the fastest speed that you've ever played?

see above

Are there any interesting tricks you can do, like play with your teeth, play upside down, etc.?

I know a lot about music theory because I have played trombone and piano for over 10 years so a lot of the theory come naturally. as a result i couldn't tell you exactly what I use but basically everything I play is theory based

When you submit tabs to this website or any other website, what accuracy ratings do they usually get?

I don't tend to submit tabs as I don't have the patience to type them out!

Are there any songs that you can play twice as fast as the original artist?

ditto to the other answers, if you mean twice as fast as the recording then yes but if you mean twice as fast as the artist could play them then no probably not

wow we must have some serious vibrato kings here everybody gave themselves a pretty high rating but theres more to a vibrato than shaking the string you have to give it your own stlye ... listen to yngwie malmsteen or bb king they have very distinct vibratos ... MJ_Avalanche and xlx_Jason_xlx I'd like to hear these pro rated vibratos of yours do you guys have any recordings?

Everyone really has their own style of vibrato. I tend to use a lot of classical vibrato vs. bend vibrato... It's not a very diffcult technique, so I wouldn't say a high rating is very strange.

it is a very difficult technique to do well ... trust me all the big guitarists will tell you a good expressive vibrato is very important and it takes a long time to develop.

I agree completely. I can vibrato pretty good, but not a 9 or 10. But, Hammering, Pulling, and Bending, I'm Awesome at, cuz they sound cool so i want to keep doing them, therefore learning more everytime. (plus, Switchfoot uses a lot of those, so i should be better at them.)

P.S. I have no tabs for SF here because the mod doesn't think that it's different from the other tabs, when its way different, if the mod would actually try them out.
