"Sweet Home Alabama" problem

ok, i've been looking at a bunch of different tabs for sweet home alabama, and al the versions have the letters in them, like "h" or "p" or something, and they confuse me, even if i figure out what they mean, it doesn't make any sense...i was hopeing someone could shed some light on how to play a note when a letter comes up... thanks!!

An "h" means Hammer on. so you hammer on whatever the same number fret as the number after the h, and "p" means Pull off. the same thing, only you pull off. hammering on and pulling off are used to giv it that twang.

Fret a note, and pull it to one side of the fretboard to bend the pitch upwards.

try this. Fret the G string at the 7th fret. How use your fingers to pull the string toward the high E. Hear the note bend upward? That's a bend.

In other words, play a note, bend the string that you're playing the note on by pulling or pushing the string down or up.

Try not to use so much technical terminology with the new guitar players, Jon
