| I dunno. I don't really care, as long as there isn't a history quiz I need to pass to get into heaven.

| I'm not a theistic evolutionist, I just think that you people are out of your minds if you think that dinosaurs lived with people. But most of you here seem to have the problem of looking beyond the literal. You can look at Jesus saying "I am the door" and say, "Of course that's not to be taken literally." There is a LOT more to the Scriptures than just what's written literally. You're missing the ENTIRE point of the Creation story. It's not a scientific theory, the point is that God created the world. Not the sun, not the moon, not some God and Goddess, the one Almighty God. Next time you read your Bible, try to look past the words. BTW, I was the first I do not care

| You're getting into dangerous territory cowboy because this is exactly how cults and false religions get started: by choosing not to take things literally.
I do not care if the debated text is hippo or a dino..however I do care if the world was created in 7 days like the Bible says it was.
The text is quite clear "there evening and there was morning" then it goes on to remind us what day it was.
Why the detail?
Why would there be so much detail if a day was being symbolic of thousands of years?
The hebrew word for "day" here is literally a 24 hour period. They have other words to describe this if it was going to be symbolic.
Now..if I see a pile of dinosaur bones..and human bones right next to it in a dig..thats evidence that humans and dinosaurs co-existed. There is enormous extra-biblical evidence for it. So its not as "out of our minds" as you might think it is. |

| Look, I'm not starting a cult here, and I'm not trying to offend anyone. You just choose to believe for some reason that ALL of the Bible is to be taken literally, and I choose to believe that MOST of the Bible is to be taken literally. And that's a very large most. I don't think the world is billions of billions of years old. But what you're saying, is that God could not have created through any other way than what is literally taken in the Bible. I think that's a little worse than what I'm doing, because you are limiting the power of God. We can go on about this all day and all night, and we won't get anywhere. I just want you to know, there is always more to the Scriptures than meets the literal eye.

| You don't think I know that there are parts to take literally and some to take figuratively.
This is what is called the Hermeneutics of the Bible. How to interpret it in other words. There are certain clues in how to interpret a passage, whether its to be taken literal or to be taken literally.
There are no symbolism clues in the first Chapter of Genesis. It's written in a specific Hebrew poetry form. Chapter 2 is a recursion pattern. Both patterns are used to a "toledoth".
"toledoth" is also another word for "account".
Notice in chapter 2:4 It says "This is the account of the heavens and earth when they were created."
Thats evidence of it being literal. Why? Because "toledoths" are always literal. I'll show you some other examples of toledoths:
1)Noah 6:9 (also written in a recursion pattern)
2)Shem, Ham, and Japheth (10:1)
3)Terah (11:27)
There are tons of them in Genesis. Each time giving an account of literal events that had transpired. Thats literally what a toledoth is. A literal account of an event.
So that reiterates the point of chapter 2:4 and that the creation accounts need to be taken literally because it is a toledoth. |

I thought you did... but maybe i am wrong...I am in no means trying to insult you.. I do not claim to be in knowledgable in Biblical knowledge, least to to your level. I merely thought that you were saying that the whole Bible (verse by verse) should be taken as real commands.
Very Sorry--

| I apologize Look, I apologize if I got the thread overheated and I happened to offend someone, but I'm under a lot of stress and I'm very tired. I guess I shouldn't be debating under the previously stated conditions.
Peace,
Josh
