| 1 Corinthians 5:17 1 Corinthians 5:17 - Those who become new Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone, a new life has begun!
I was sitting in class when I noticed that my teacher was having a hard time writing something on the board. The board itself was a dry erase board, one that had many marks and splotches left on it. The new writing was not showing up on the board, but rather it simply blended in with what was already on the board. For whatever reason, I felt God prompt me to come back after class to clean it. After going back to my room to drop off books, I readied myself with paper towel, both damp and dry. As I started to scrub, I noticed the marks weren't coming off. No matter how hard I tried, it wasn't coming off. The board was ruined.
Afterward, a thought came to me. Just as this board would need to be replaced, our hearts also must be replaced (Ezek 26:36). Once the board is replaced, new marks can be erased with a simple wipe. God does not clean a new Christian's heart, he replaces it. The sins are not just washed away, they cease to exist! As Christians, we may still stumble and sin from time to time, but we can be assured that this new heart can easily be cleaned by the grace of our great God.
