For the record, there are PLENTY of non-violent video games.

Yeah, I'm aware having children is very different, so I don't want to come off as a know-it-all, because I'm not. I just like to share what I know.

They are possibly some generalizations here, give or take a few months. But the premise of this idea is not that children are not intelligent enough to understand the plot of teletubbies by age 2, it's that the actual viewing of the TV screen under the age of two, can actually inhibit the brain from growing to it's capacity (again this is just textbook) But, in my opinion, there is no need for a child to be watching TV under 2 anyway, just because they can't understand what is going on.

My argument that video games are better than TV, are like an argument of who is better, Bill Clinton or John Kerry. You have to pick the lesser of two evils. In my opinion, there are some aspects to video games that stimulate the brain more than TV, and thus, more productive than just watching TV. Young children still shouldn't be using them.

Yeah, but nothing beats a good game of stick-ball.

That's the one where you bean the weakest kid in the forehead with the ball, then beat him with the stick... right?

So THAT's what happened to me...Merde. I hope it's reversible. Otherwise, I'm sunk.

Agreed. I apologise if I made that insinuation. My inherant stupidity explains everything.

On a more serious note, I like this statement very much.

Not being a parent, but seeing what my Father and Mother have done to myself and my 6 younger sisters. They banned anything that;
1) Led to a disrespectful attitude
2) Went against the Bible
3)Took up so much of our time that we did nothing else (This usually was just limited, depending on what it was.)
4)Was immoral
5) This was the grey area. Example, I can watch certain shows because I am 15, however my 12 year old sister cannot. Same for her and the 10 year old. etc.
6) And anything they just felt uncomfortable with, and didn't want us to be around.

Not all R-rated movies are bad. It depends on what they are rated R for.
I have seen PG movies I would never allow my own children to see, nor would I want my little sisters watching.

So true. I've even seen G-rated movies which I don't think are too appropriate for children.

my parents just mad eit simple and cut cable so all we watch is movies and the only movies there are in our house are ones they aprove of, even if we rent a movie we have to call my mom at the movie store tell her what we are renting, what it is rated and the reasons for the rating!
