IMPORTANT - ATTN: Artist Admins

I know Mickey already posted a link to this page in the "What is an Artist Admin?" thread, but I think it is important enough to have its own thread. This is a link to the official rules/guidelines for Artist Admins. It will explain where you need to go to fulfill your responsibility as an Artist Admin and what you need to do once you get there. Be sure to read this page at least two or three times before you start working on any tabs, because it is important that these rules/guidelines are followed correctly.

Here is the link: http://www.christianguitar.org/admin/howto.php

Thank you all for your willingness to work as an Artist Admin.

In His love,
Nate

There seems to be some confusion about this one point, so I'll make it clear - your main objective is to have zero "unvalidated" tabs in your sections. When someone submits a new tab to the site, it is unvalidated. It is your job to either:

- Validate it.
- Edit it (add the title to it or whatever) and validate it.
- If it's a correction, put those changes in the existing tab, and then delete the new one.
- If it's not acceptable (duplicate with no reason, excessive lyrics that you don't care to manually remove, etc), delete it.

Don't leave songs in your queue that are unvalidated. Take your time and deal with them correctly, but don't let them just sit there.

Thanks,
Mickey

Also, as a note, lyrics are acceptable on anything that is public domain (WORDS written before 1930; regardless of when the music was written). That means, for example, if you're looking at Come Thou Fount for David Crowder, don't remove the lyrics.

Explain more what you mean. Are you asking if you should take two seperate tabs and make them one tab? Then the answer is definitely no. There's nothing wrong with having more than one version of a song; it's often even better that way. So, no, never under any circumstances should you combine two tabs together, unless they are tabbed by the same person and s/he asks you to combine them.

Ok. Here's what to do with "tabs" that are links.

First, make sure that the link goes to the official artist's website. If it does not, delete the tab.

Then, follow these steps (not necessarily in order):

Make sure the "Is link" box says "1" instead of "0". Choose an appropriate "Title" for the link ("Songs from '*insert name of album*' " is probably fine for an official artist website that has many tabs, otherwise the title of the song should be fine). Make sure the body of the "tab" includes the exact link as the first line of text; make sure that the link includes the http:// before the rest of the URL, otherwise the link doesn't function properly. Mickey isn't clear in his "How to" page whether you should label links as such (in other words, whether you should put "Link" in the "type" field), but it seems as though putting "Link" for the "type" field would be appropriate. Change the "Unvalidated" field to "0", and press submit.

Final, and most important, step: Go find the "tab" through the main tab index at www.christianguitar.org and make sure that the link functions properly.

In His love,
Nate
