#1 | | Registered User | What is an artist admin? To keep up with the never-ending (and rarely updated) tab submissions, I've decided to set up "Artist Admins" for every artist on the site. This job will entail a number of things:
First and foremost, you'll be responsible for adding new tabs for that artist as they're submitted. My job will simply be to send the new tabs to the correct area, and then you'll have to decide if it should be...
A) Posted
B) Edited and posted
C) Deleted
Your other jobs will be just general maintenance on the tabs for your artist. Updating the CCLI numbers, fixing typos as they come along, etc. There won't be a set amount of time that you need to visit your area, but once a day should be pretty normal, maybe as little as once a week if you get busy. If you can't do that, then don't worry about it. Info on how to approve new songs (once you're an admin) is here.
A list of artists that still need admins can be found here.
Requirements to become an admin? You tell me. On one hand, I don't want just anyone to have that kind of access to part of our song database. On the other hand, we have about a zillion positions to fill. Post your requests in this forum, and list a few reasons why you should be chosen ("I have 2500 posts", "I'm 27 and the worship leader at our church", etc). I won't turn down many at this point. Also, be sure to list which artists (mentioning "guitar" or "bass") you'd like.
I also don't have a set limit on how many artists you can maintain - that is somewhat up to you. We'll slowly get a better idea of how many one person can handle, but for now feel free to take a bunch. I can see one person handling 20 or 30 artists (maybe more) without much difficulty. Your primary job is keeping up with new tab submissions, and we typically don't get more than a handful of new songs per day.
So, as always, post a new thread with your request. Also, please let me know if you have any questions about this.
Thanks!
Mickey

Ok. Here's what to do with "tabs" that are links.
First, make sure that the link goes to the official artist's website. If it does not, delete the tab.
Then, follow these steps (not necessarily in order):
Make sure the "Is link" box says "1" instead of "0". Choose an appropriate "Title" for the link ("Songs from '*insert name of album*' " is probably fine for an official artist website that has many tabs, otherwise the title of the song should be fine). Make sure the body of the "tab" includes the exact link as the first line of text; make sure that the link includes the http:// before the rest of the URL, otherwise the link doesn't function properly. Mickey isn't clear in his "How to" page whether you should label links as such (in other words, whether you should put "Link" in the "type" field), but it seems as though putting "Link" for the "type" field would be appropriate. Change the "Unvalidated" field to "0", and press submit.
Final, and most important, step: Go find the "tab" through the main tab index at www.christianguitar.org and make sure that the link functions properly.
In His love,
Nate

Erika | Yep. We just haven't gotten around to taking those out yet. Keep the chords clean looking (don't just take the lyrics out, but space the chords so they still look decent).
Thanks for asking.

Just submit the new songs using the normal "submit tab" method, and then I'll send them into your area once they appear in my queue. Once you have them posted, then you can delete the one with all of them in it.

Most times there won't be any new songs, so it's not a huge time commitment. It will take a little time to get each artist sorted out, but after that it shouldn't be too bad. But yeah, once or twice a week would be acceptable. Quote: |
I am a college student and I play giutar. Also are there any penalties?
| Penalties for what? Not keeping up with it? The only one would be removing you from that position. Of course, I'd rather that people let us know when they want to step down from their position (due to lack of time or whatever) rather than us trying to keep up with everyone...

| Gesufreak,
It's very simple. Basically you go to the page with all the available artists on it which is linked in post #1. There are two links there --
the first will take you to a page which explains how to be an artist admin once you are one, which I'll link just for convenience's sake - go here: http://www.christianguitar.org/admin/howto.php. The second I will also link will take you to the aforementioned page which has the list of unmanaged artists - go here: http://www.christianguitar.org/neededartistadmins.php .
Once you have chosen an artist or artists, you create a NEW THREAD which you do by going to the specific forum and clicking "new thread" and post in there 1) your name and what you think you have to offer basically as Mickey said in the first post "I am this old and I am the worship leader at our church" or something like "I have been playing guitar or piano for this long and i know some of the songs" etcetera etcetera.
That is basically all you do then you would wait for Mickey to answer your thread.
Grace & Peace
Erika

#7 | | Registered User | I've updated the "needed artist admins" page. Now it simply shows all of the artists that have at least one tab in our system. Those with at least one unvalidated tab are bold. It's pretty much the same, but just thought I'd let you know it's working on the new system now. Here's the link: http://www.christianguitar.org/neededartistadmins.php
Thanks,

| Admin. Hey, is this where you apply for administrator? If so, I would like to apply for the Family Force 5 guitar administrator. I'm a big fan of this band and have been playing guitar for some seven years now. I will also soon be playing for the main service in my church, so I do have quite a bit of experience. If you could shoot me back a yes or no that would be great. Thanks! |

But...it looks like Family Force 5 has already been requested.

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight. | |
