here. Songs have to be in mp3 or wav format to work. Here are the main features I use and how to use it:
Slow down playback: simply click 1/2 or 1/4 respectively
Change pitch of playback: Options, Tuning, then raise or lower tuning using the semitones slide bar. 1/2 step is 1 semitone, 1 step is 2 semitones
You can analyze a note by highlighting a small piece of the waveform and below will appear the frequencies played. You'll need to know a keyboard layout to understand which notes it suggests. The higher the peak, the more likely that is what the note(s) is. But sometimes, other frequencies show up from drums, bass, etc. It can be tricky.
Insert markers to mark off sections to help with figuring out note durations.
Select small sections of the waveform to isolate a bar/measure/note.
Vocal remover (this usually works): Options, Stereo Mix, Out of Phase
Use the slider in Stereo Mix to isolate right and left sides of the mix too. Just pan to left or right accordingly.
Well, that's a pretty good start. It's a really helpful program. I couldn't figure some stuff without it.
