| PHOTOGRAPHY!!! Hey, folks (if that word is still "in", or maybe it never was). Anyway, I wanted to start a forum for just photographers in general. Amateurs, Pros, Beginners, even if you know nothing about it, but want to learn, or whatever. I'm in the photo-retail business, so I have a generally large knowledge of the basics of photography, if not the brands and specific knowledge. So post and ask, answer, give your opinions on brands, or whatever. I'll start by saying that if you want to get on my good side, don't say anything bad about Canon or Kodak, and don't say anything good about Nikon or Fuji. I have 3 Canon cameras, and I only shoot Kodak film (if I have a choice).

| That's alright. I can forgive you. :}
Seriously, though. That's cool. I always like the name Coolpix. Kind of original. Not like Canon's Power Shot line. Those cameras are awesome, though. I have a Power Shot S400. It takes GREAT pictures. Most of the people where I work (Ritz Camera) prefer Nikon, though.

| I thought Nikon and Canon were both really good camera companies... can you really go wrong with either one? :P |

| I'll allow this, because- from what I gather- it is about technique and theory more than posting the actual pictures. Post on, happy peoples of the world!
I have two Pentaxes: a KS 500 and a K 1000.
I prefer Fuji film, because I take a lot of greenery shots. Since Fujifilm's "recipe" for the film naturally turns things green, Fuji gives moss, leaves, grass, etc, a beautifully lush color.
Interesting facts:
Kodak turns things red. If you're into outdoor photography, use Kodak in the fall, to bring out autumn colors. Also best for taking pictures of people, since it gives them rosy cheeks and all.
Polaroid (often sold in Walm-mart brand packaging) shades things blue. Got a brown, ruddy creek? Make it blue and serene with polaroid film.
Fujifilm turns things green. Got a moss garden? Fuji. Got a person you want to give a Vulcan-ish green tint when you take their picture? Fuji.

| ^That's interesting about the colors
My dad has a Nikon Coolpix 2400, and i use it probaly at least 4 times as much as he does My friend has a kodak, and what i don't like about it is that it takes a couple of seconds to take that picture after you press the shutter. I always wait until the perfect moment to take my pictures and usually 1 or 2 seconds is too late, and i miss a good picture opporunity. I started a thread here where you can post your pics.

| That has to be the autofocus working. With most digitals and point-and-shoots, it takes time for the autofocus to start, depending on which mode you have it in. I thought the 2400 was that way too, but it may have really fast autofocus. About the film, earlier, it's almost like using a filter. You have to know the tendencies of the film you are shooting and its conditions. Kodak High-Definition is about the best all-around film I've found, and I generally prefer the brand.
Never used their digitals, though.
