Jordan Rudess is amazing!!!

I'm a guitarist and I know very little about keyboard/piano but when I saw Jordan Rudess live he blew me away he - he did this insane solo and left me in shock ... I'm convinced the juliard graduate is the best keyboardist around ... what do you guys think if him? are there any JR fans here???

Never heard of him, but I bet he's not as good as Dino Kartsonakis.

Prog keyboardists tend to have incredible chops... but, to me, they tend to have little sense of what is "tasteful". Sure, their solos are awesome... but they don't seem to have much idea about what to do in between solos.

my two cents.

In His love,
Nate

Never heard of him. I would like to though. And yes Dino is awesome. His stuff isn't as hard to play as you might imagine though (I speak from much experience).

I still think the best pianist ever was Franz Lizst. Listen to his Un Sospiro and you will see what I mean. Go here to hear it.

Rudess is cold as ice... i mean that in a bad way. I really enjoy the 70's prog players better.

But the MOST awsome IMHO are people like Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder... they don't play 50 trillion notes but the notes they do play hit the spot every time. herbie could play 4 chords in a song over and over with a solo on top and they would be the most perfect chords anyone could choose. Wonder's 70's stuff impresses me so much, he can write a great song with his eyes closed

Just heard both of them and both are really good in their own way ... But I personally think jordan as a musician is better cause he is more innovative and is a brilliant composer ( check out six degrees of inner turbulence) score was composed entirely by rudess. Dino on the other hand is a great pianist , Jordan is basically a pianist ( check out notes on a dream ) and u guys decide who is a better pianist ?
