God is in control, He is my Hiding Place.

Just wanted to share some recent thoughts / experiences:

Saturday night and early Easter Sunday morning we experienced severe thunderstorms marked by particularly loud claps of thunder and lightning. While this would have been extremely frightening to me as a toddler, as a 33-year-old man, it doesn't bother me, and I usually enjoy thunderstorms as another manifestation of God's creation. However, this night I did have concerns about possible tornadoes (very common in this area of the Southeast US) or even straight-line winds blowing down one of the numerous trees and causing damage to our house or injury to my wife or daughters (my 9-month-old, Faith, ended up in our bed from about 11:30 pm on). But as I lay there with my daughter pulling my hair, I meditated on the lyrics to a song I was going to play instrumentally as a prelude to our church's Easter morning morning service:

Hiding Place

You are my hiding place,
You always fill my heart
With songs of deliverance
Whenever I am afraid
I will trust in You, I will trust in You,
Let the weak say I am strong
In the strength of the Lord
I will trust in You

As I meditated on those words, I was given such a peace knowing that God is in control of all physical and spiritual storms, and an incredible sense of awe and gratitude that the Creator of the Universe, the Calmer of the Storm, would give His life for me, an unworthy sinner.
