Question Mission-themed songs for chapel

So on friday I'm leading worship for my college chapel service, and i having some trouble with song selection. The service is devoted to testimonies from spring break missions trips. I'm trying to come up with missions-themed songs, but i'm kinda stuck. So far, "You Said" is pretty for sure, and I'm considering "Here I Am" by Dan Schutte, but i haven't been able to find chords i like for it yet. I'm also considering scrapping the whole idea of missions-themed songs and just choosing anything. Any suggestions?

Good topic! I've often tried to find good "missions-minded" songs - especially as my college group sends out at least a couple of short-termed missions trips each year and supports a good dozen fellow college students from our group who are now full-time missionaries. I know I have a semi-decent list a home right now and so I'll try to post some other songs later on, but for now, one that pops into my head is "Shout to the North" (by Martin Smith, I believe)(from the band "Delirious"). It's not one of my all-time favorites by any stretch of the imagination, but in honesty, the lyrics are pretty missions-oriented. Hopefully that'll give you a little bit of a start there.

In terms of songs to lead a congregation in, I'll get back to you on some others. In terms of a song just to sing (i.e., a solo), there's a song by Mercy Me on their first CD (track 2) and naturally, I can't remember the title for the of life of me right now. It's a fantastic song. I THINK it's titled "Here am I, Send me" or something to that effect.

God bless you as you lead this service.

There's a song we've sung, I think it's called "Here I Am, Lord." It starts, "I the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry..." That would be a good one. "Take My Life and Let It Be," is another good one. http://members.lycos.co.uk/codeandch...%20It%20Be.DOC

"Lord, You Give the Great Comission" is also excellent. http://www.oremus.org/hymnal/l/l520a.html (Thanks to Aaron Adams for the link). I usually sing it to a different tune, but whatever.

Thanks for the suggestions yall. It turns out the person organizing the service changed her mind on some stuff (including the number of songs, we went from 2-3 to 6). So we're pretty much able to do whatever we want. So here's what we're doing:

Let Everything that has Breath
You Said
Blessed Be Your Name
Lord You Have My Heart
One Pure and Holy Passion

And one still be decided. Thanks again for your input.

There was one missions song that i have on a cd called "We speak to nations" i forget who sings it. But yeah missions songs are tough cuz there are only so many out there, and they can most often only be used for missions geared services. Like you cant really sing "You Said" every sunday .

Someone mentioned it, but "You Said" by Hillsongs is a good one.
