Ideas for children's camp??

Hey there. My brothers and I have been asked by our church's children's minister to provide music for the four-day children's camp this summer. I'm not sure how much we'll have to play (although I'm guessing once in the morning and once at night), but I just wanted to see if anyone here had some suggestions for songs that we could use. Basically, I either need songs that were written specifically for children... or simple praise songs that children can relate to. Any ideas?

In His love,
Nate

Props to you to when you find songs that kids can understand that are rooted in scripture. I'm not a fan of worship for kids being scripturally inaccurate.

Agnus Dei could work. It has simple lyrics.

I'll think about this.

Dude... I have a very long list of songs, both old and new kids songs as well as simpler worship songs.

What ages are the kids? I mean, 5 year olds can't pick up on a lot, but older ones can. For our camp with 3rd-6th graders, we use a lot of just "normal" songs that the kids are familiar with from church.

I'm kinda working on making a "book" of chord sheets with songs in them... some of them just have words. I can email it to you if you would like.

Eventually I'll type up my list and send it to you if you want it.

Let me know.

Neither am I.

That's a good thought. Thanks.

Jozeca: Go ahead and send me whatever list you have. The kids will probably be between the ages of 6 and 12. I'd guess around 1st to 6th grade.

Nate

I have a bunch of kids tapes you may want to look at Nate, scripturally accurate if I remember right... but doesn't the VBS material we're getting have music already?

I think the kids should just learn hymns lol

There are loads of really fast catchy songs out there. Kids really seem to dig songs that have actions to go along with them. At my camp this last summer the kids liked: "Lean on Me", "Lord I Lift Your Name on High", "Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble?" We never sang it but "Every Move i Make" would probobally be a good one. Just try to stay away from the songs with lots of really deep lyrics, yeah I found that songs that are more repetative were better for the kids.

there's a song called for I am convinced which is pretty much just a couple of verses of scripture. "For I am convinced thet neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to seperate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord." And songs with actions usually are a hit with kids, maybe if you could throw in some "for fun" songs like Pharoah, Pharoah. Or something like that. I don't know I usually do teens worship and stuff like that.
