Quick And Easy For The Bachelor

This summer I will be living alone for the first time and doing my own cooking and shopping. Does anyone else out with some more experience have some recipes and advice that they want to share?

I've done quite a bit of cooking before, so I am not clueless. But tips and easy, quick recipes would be great. I'll be working full time so that is a consideration.

Pita bread! Either purchase or make your own (you can find recipes online- yes, the brown paper bag thing works).

You can stuff the pockets with tuna (mix in finely chopped cucumbers, tomatoes and pickles, add some dill), egg salad (chopped hard boiled eggs with mayo and mustard, if you want add very finely chopped pickles) or lunch meat (It's easiest if the meat is in small pieces and veggies/cheese is chopped as well and they're mixed together).

So, yeah, Pocket bread is cool.

You can bake chicken breast rubbed with lemon pepper ahead of time - it makes great sandwiches or salads.

Pasta salad is cool, too because you can keep it on hand for awhile. Use rotini or whatever pasta you like, cooked chicken (like above), tomatoes, black olives, onions, and feta cheese.

I'll think of more...

Chicken breasts are great...grill, bake, whatever. They're easy.

One thing I liked to do was buy a whole chicken...usually 4-6 pounds. I usually pull out the guts. Sometimes people use them, I think. Rub a little oil on the outside...maybe some salt and pepper. If I've got it, jam an onion in the chest cavity, and maybe some garlic. Bake it for a couple hours (20 minutes/lb.) and feast. The best part is, while I have to wait for a couple hours to get in initially (I usually do it on the weekend), I've got tons of leftovers for the next week.

Ramen noodles + frozen vegetables + canned chicken = easy, quick, and decent.

Crock pots... There are recipe books out there...they're great. You throw a bunch of stuff in there in the mornings, turn it on, and it's done when you get home. Very easy and not time consuming.
Oh, and if you want to lose some weight (not saying that you need to...) but when I moved out of my house, I lived on Kraft Mac and Cheese Spirals, Salad (just bought the pre-made bags), and Soup (either condensed or those bags of powdery stuff) and I lost 15 pounds the first two months. It's a good diet plan

His,
Latte

This is my favorite bachelor recipe... make it for someone and pretend it's tough. It takes about 15 minutes.

Chop up some chicken breasts, and throw them in a pan with a maybe a tbsp oil heated up. When the chicken starts to turn white, throw in a nice fat tablespoon of liquid honey, and a minced clove of garlic for every breast you're cooking. So 3 breasts = 3 scoops o' honey and 3 minced cloves, and so one. Sprinkle with a little salt, and turn the heat down.

Cook that until the honey starts to carmelize (turns dark brown and sticky). Serve it with some rice and veggies or whatever.

That's the tastiest, simplest honey garlic chicken you'll ever have.

Wow that's awesome, I like the sounds of that one. I might be on my own for a few weeks this Summer so this is great!

I'm going to make that for my family [even though I'm not a bachelor]
