That all wasn't just for mag pickups. Truth be told, the Utah only uses about four controls for mags, and those are the easiest controls possible -- a fiveway stratblade switch, two toggles, and a threeway slider which works like a toggle. It doesn't get any easier than that for what it does.
And, incidentally, those four controls give you every possible combination of three pickups (short of the compound combos), taking into account series vs. parallel, in phase vs. out of phase, split humbuckers vs. full, and the "lost combos", and it does it all intuitively, where you don't have to memorize any weird combination of toggle switch patterns ("patches"). You just turn the options you want either on or off. It's that simple.
What you are also seeing represented by those other controls are an EQ System, a MIDI System, a Piezo System, a MagDrive Sustainer System, an Octave Dividing Range Extender, as well as two tone shaping circuits, involving the equivalent of five to six effects pedals built into it. And all that isn't even including the wah wah effect I can get if I get jiggy with turning one of the EQ knobs, but that's a different story.
Also, on top of all that, each of those systems is handled by a versatile one or two controls per system, save the mag pickups as mentioned, which understandably would require just a bit more.

| The Cheshire Cat inlays are in, and I'm now having the frets installed. I'm also working on my next guitar project. Pics forthcoming. |

Perhaps you should save us the curiosity next time, and just wait 'til you got the pics before telling us about some new development. |

| Hey man!
I just thought I'd PM you and see how you are doing, but your PM box was full , so I just put it here. I understand that life 'happens' and sometimes frivolous things (like CGR ) must be sacrificed in order to keep up with it all.
But, I hope that all is going well with you. I haven't seen you around much (or any crazy wiring diagrams or pwning of ill-informed n00bz ) and its not the same place without you, man! I said a prayer for you just now...
Take Care
-Jeff

Apparently you have a doppleganger who is into making a neat system to allow 12-20 switch configurations discretely in a nice package. |
