Celebrated composer and performer Michael W. Smith is in the spotlight again, this time as his song, the instrumental “Carol Ann” was selected to run with the debut Bush-Cheney spot for the President’s 2004 re-election campaign. The song is the third track on Smith’s 2000 acclaimed instrumental CD titled, Freedom.
“I’m honored that the President would select ‘Carol Ann’ as part of his first ad campaign for reelection,” notes Smith. “When I wrote the song, I never thought it’d be part of one of the most followed campaigns in recent history.”

This February, Smith was honored with his third career GRAMMY award for the 2002 release of Worship Again. The live-recording has already been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and adds to career sales of more than 10 million. Smith has sold a cumulative two million copies of his last three music releases alone, and is one of the largest drawing touring artists on the road today.
