Has anyone here read the book? Do you know what Miller's talking about when he's talking about suicide by the heater thing and the pipe on it? My english teacher doesn't even know, and my first thought was to ask if anyone here knew about it.

Tonight I lingered over your name,
the delicate assembly of vowels
a voice inside my head.
You were sleeping when I arrived.
I stood by your bed
and watched the sheets rise gently.
I knew what slant of light
would make you turn over.
It was then I felt
the highways slide out of my hands.
I remembered the old men
in the west side cafe,
dealing dominoes like magical charms.
It was then I knew,
like a woman looking backward,
I could not leave you,
or find anyone I loved more.
ew ew i dont like Death of a Salesman, were having a unit test on it on monday, and we just finished watching the movie, and reading the book in english. In my english class we concluded that the part with the whole pipe/suicide thing is he is inhaling gas somehow,or something like that.
My English class just finished with this - I really enjoyed it. Did anyone else watch the movie after having read the book? I found the whole movie very difficult to watch once I knew what would happen.
We didn't watch the movie...I dunno why, but whatev.

yep its referring to suicide without a doubt. Willy Loman is a very miserable man. Its a great play, which is probably worth remembering; if i called a play a book in an essay I would be for the high jump . i've seen the film too, I agree its a good interpretation of the play. i did it for my A2 synoptic, and my degree is English, so any more questions feel free to ask.
I think the whole pipe/hose thing had to do with inhaling gas. We just read that yesterday. I don'd like this one as much as An Enemy of the People or The Crucible though.
