What IS that?

Anybody ever get a picture back and not know what it is? I'm experiencing such an event now...

This picture came from my camera Saturday night and I have no idea what it is. Any guesses?

Nope. It does appear to be the lens, but this picture was from an inadvertent push of the button... I wasn't aiming it at anything (in fact, it was actually pointed at the floor of the van).

Actually, it looks like a shot that gets taken when you're in the process of taking off a lens cap, or the cap is falling off. I hate when that happens.

hms... well, I want this mystery solved! so.. here's what ya do, go to your van, and study it to see if there is anything on the floor that somewhat resembles that pic

could it be a shoe?

I truely believe the answer is to be found in the car though!

lol, becky, I'm pretty sure we can safely assume that it was the lens. However, the mystery remains of exactly how the light was reflected in such a way that the camera captured an image of the lens.

The only thing I can figure is that maybe just as I snapped the picture (it was an accidental shot, btw), I slid the cover over it just enough (there's no cap, but there is a sliding cover) that it shielded the lens and forced that kind of an image. That's my only theory, to this point.

Me too! lol, I don't understand!

I do have one other theory now....

When the flash went off, my camera was pointed at the floor of the van... perhaps the van was dark enough to emulate the darkness created by covering the lens (I'm going back to the lens cap solution earlier in the thread by H.M. Murdock)... then, perhaps I just randomly snapped an accidental picture. It was very dark in the van, but I doubt it was that dark. Confusion continues!
