Cool Taylors

Welcome to the world of Guitar playing....you made a great choice for a first guitar. The Big Baby has that sweet low Taylor action, and an excellent tone for such an affordable guitar.

I fell in Love with Taylor after playing my first one.....which I later bought, a Taylor 355 (12 string) Then I got myself a Baby Taylor, which is an awesome sounding 3/4 size and makes for a great camping/travel guitar. Then most recently, after buying a Simon and Patrick 6 string Electric Accoustic to get me by and being utterly disappointed with it, I bought myself a gorgeous Blue stained Taylor 614ce. I got rid of that "cheaper" guitar (traded it for a Mandolin) and vowed never to buy anything but a Taylor again when looking at guitars....unless of course I have the bucks to get a Breedlove.

I found when I started playing that it helped me advance very fast to find songs I like on the net, get the chords to them and learn the chords for those songs, playing a song you like is the best way to learn new chords. Have fun, and remember, it's not what others think of your playing, but the joy you yourself get from playing.

I can say that from my heart, I know it's true
Yeah the Best thing I can tell you is God Loves you
And He sent His only son as living Proof

Or dabble in some deep, philosophy
but it all comes down to what was done, on Calvary
When Jesus died for you</center>

Wow congrats Phil..you lucky duck..ya..hehe...I go to my little music shop all the time and be realllllly nice...and then they're realllly nice back to me..funny how that works.
Froggee.."action" is determined by how far away the strings are from the fret board..my first guitar had super high action, I.e. the strings were really far away, meaning I had to press harder, meaning chords were more work and it hurt more. My Fender has really good action..the strings feel so soft compared to my old guitar.

Bleh......are your strings high off the fretboard? Or more close to it? It doesn't really matter anyway...just so log as you're comfortable playing it.

Tell me Froggee, is this an acoustic guitar? If it is, how much did it hurt to play chords or how hard did you have to press down?

Action???

You wanna know what the action on your guitar is? For Real? Well get your behind sitting on a stool at your local music shop, try a variety of guitars, and talk to the salesman, getting his viewpoints on action. Then take all that information and sensory data home and compare it to your guitar. If you found that there were guitars at that music store that seemed to make you a better player, seemed to make the formation of chords effortless, and seemed to sound like someone else, someone much better, was playing the guitar, then go put a down payment on that guitar and buy it as soon as you can save up enough pennies nickles and dimes to do so.

That's how I stumbled onto Taylor Guitars, was just playing some different 12 strings at my local shop, and the salesman put a Taylor 355 in my hands. I'd never heard of Taylor, but as I played I found myself able to hit chords with ease, and the sounds, well....to let you know how much of a difference the Guitar made in My playing, my wife was in the store, looking at other things with my daughter, and she thought someone who knew what they were doing was playing and was quite suprised to see that the clear chords, and great sounds were coming from my strumming. When I finally took a look at the price tag, I was stunned....I had no idea it was such a spendy guitar....but only a few days later I was in the shop putting a down payment on it....and a few weeks after that, I had it at home. It was well worth it.
I had owned several different guitars up till that point, all relatively inexpensive, and I was always frustrated. They never seemed to sound all that good, and learing new chords was so frustrating. Well, I discovered that a quality instrument makes a serious difference, both in the ease of play and the sound you get when you play, plus, my guitar rarely goes out of tune. The cheaper guitars needed to be tuned so often is was ridiculous. I can go weeks without the Taylor going out of tune. I can even let it sit for great lenghts of time, and when I pick it up, it is still in tune, or very nearly in tune.

yah, this is an acoustic, and yah, it can hurt my fingers I've they are all soft, or if I've been playing for 2 hours or 2 and a half hours, something like that, no, I don't have a way of getting to a local guitar shop, and no, I have no money to make a down payment!
