| sound becoming an issue you know... im not even sure if this is the right place to post this...
anyways, our worship team comes from a small church which really can't afford a "nice" system... its actually quite trash. so lately we've just been playing through amps and stuff... but once again, nobody has all the stuff we need... for example, i play an acoustic-electric but i only have an electric amp... and it sounds like.... trash... we actually only have one speaker in our system... and we run our singers through it... and we don't really have a powerful enough bass amp... so it gets muddled... what can i do!! or does anybody know of a way (which doesn't involve tens of thousands of dollars) to improve our sound???

What gear do you have? Try to be specific. Also, what instruments? Drums?

| First... a sound system isnt tens of thousands to put together, I can put together for many different budgets (ranging from a couple thousand to 10k), and have in the past.
Second... if your church is small enough that currently it only has a 1 speaker PA system, perhaps you need to rethink the whole Praise Band idea in the first place. Its always important to think of projects within the means of what you have to work with. Perhaps cut down to 1 acoustic guitar and a vocalist, and things will be a lot more sucessful instead of trying to cram a full band with lackluster gear into a very small bottleneck.

| i understand what your thinking robert... but what i meant by our church being small is that we have maybe 200 people in our morning service.. but our youth services get as many as 80 people some weeks which comes along with a lot a musical talents.. we are very blessed in this way, but find it hard to use these talents because of the system... and to answer the first question... we have a pearl drum kit which sounds fine, i play a crafter acoustic electric, and right now im playing through my fender electric guitar amp (sounds horrible)... the bassist has an epiphone... he plays through a fender bassman (i think) 30 watt amp.. we have a new yamaha keyboard which is played through a 120 watt yorkville keyboard amp (actually the only nice amp we have)... the electric guitars plays through his roland cube whatever.. its only a small amp... and we just run our two singers through the one pa speaker... and by the way, i was exaggerating about the whole tens of thosands thing... just wanted to know of a more cost-effective way

| Ok, the reason everything is sounding bad is because your amps are proportioned very badly. A 30 watt bass amp is nothing more than a practice amp. There is no way you're ever going to be able to hear that. Period.
Now you're keyboardist has a 120 watt amp. That's ok I guess, but it's way more than anyone else.
Basically you need a PA system. If you're going to run all amp, it's going to sound all crappy. No mixing will occur...
If you want a pretty decent sound system (or something better than what you're trying to pull off now), You might want to look into the B-52 PA system deal. It has a sub with a 3 channel power amp. It has two 10 inch cabs that go on stands. Each one recieves 150 watts. Then the 15 inch sub gets 400 watts. Only thing you'll need is a mixer. That can be obtained for a hundred bucks or so for a semi decent one.
All of that will run you for about 800 bucks. Not bad. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...base_id/110639 |

| Wow! thank you so much for the answer!! aha! even though it will end up costing a bit more when it comes to canada... that is an amazing thing... and our church could afford it. actually our pastor has been looking for a uncostly way to upgrade the sound system.. and this sounds really good! thanks a lot
