I Can't Believe I Just Said That....

I Can't Believe I Just Said That....
I remember the first time I turned around to the back seat and yelled, "Don't make me come back there!" I was crushed afterwards. I had become one of THEM. Now I'm constantly hearing things come from my mouth that I swore I'd never say.
A sample list.....

"If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times...."
"Don't make me have to tell you again."
And the classic, "If all your friends go jump off a cliff are you going to do it too?" Yeah, I actually said that....

HAHA! I guess all children are subjected to the same sayings....I've also sworn not to say any of those.......and I'm doing great so far!!!.....oh wait a minute.....I have no kids yet......

My #1 pet peeve parental expression as a child was..."Because I said so!" Man, that drove me insane!! I haven't had to use that one on Macey, of course, but I have said it a number of times as a babysitter. Each time I said it I heard my mom's voice coming out of my mouth. LOL!! I guess it was just true what she said back in the day - sometimes there is no other reason than because she said so and that was that.

No kidding. Especially when they're going through the "why" stage -- if you try to answer each question thoughtfully and thoroughly (like me with my first kid, trying to be a model parent) the conversation takes an hour and eventually ends with "Because that's the way God made it."

eg./

Okay, time to get in the car and go to the store.

Why?

Well, we need to get some groceries.

Why?

Because ours are all gone.

Why?

Because we've eaten up all our food.

Why?

Because we were hungry.

Why?

Because our bodies need food to keep us alive.

Why?

Because that's the way God made us. Get in the car!

Why?

Because I said so!
