| Hey, the name of your journal is a thing in my signature. Do you realize that?!?! Oh my goodness, I feel like you're my long lost friend.

| Yeah, I kinda stole it from your signature because Jeff is hilarious.
Had an indoor soccer game today. Somehow we won. 7-5. They were bloody good, but apparently we are too. Paco and I pulled off the most amazing give and go ever, he passed into the corner, I ran onto it and, without looking, heeled it right into the middle as he ran onto it and put it perfectly in the corner of the goal. It was amazing.
Anyways, I'm absolutely exhausted. If I'm still on here in an hour I'm going to be very dissapointed with myself. |

| Nervous.
Tonight's the night of the coffeehouse. I'm playing guitar and singing, along with 5 other "artists." I did the same thing last year, but it was lot more informal, with about ten people playing just a few songs each. This year it's a lot more organized and it makes me nervous...
I plan on playing 3-5 songs. Depends how much time I'm allotted. So far I've got "Sleep a Sailor," "Useless," a cover of "Karma Police" by Radiohead, and either "Guilty Pleasure" or "Emo Kid" or both, depending on how much time I get. And, as a back-up, I've always got "Wet Paper Bag." |

| Nice. I always like to just chill at a cofee house or something like that when live music is playing.

| Ouch man. goodluck on that tonight. Try not to screw up because if you do, everyone will laugh at you, and it'll probably scare you for life. Like if you accidently forget what to play during your song. I hope that doesn't happen to you. I wouldn't be able to do that. All those people watching me, making me all nervous... All their eyes fixed on me..
Oh well.. good luck, i'm sure it'll be great, and it'll all go smooth. |

| It's just here at the school, so it's mostly Trinity people that I already know. Which actually makes it worse. I'd almost rather perform in front of total strangers... |

| Here's my proposed set list. I'm assuming I'll only be playing 4 songs, but I'll keep a couple in reserve, just in case.
The recordings are cheap and there's plenty of mistakes in them. Keep in mind I'm in my dorm room and can't really cut loose on the vocals. Also, people kept coming into my room to try and talk with me. That's the parts where I lose track of where I am in the lyrics and just start mumbling. So keep these things in mind and enjoy.
I'm going to attach them one at a time, because it's giving me trouble. They'll be in the right order then as well. |

| And 4.
Little less nervous now that I've practiced the songs up a little. Still plenty of time to go. |

| I'm beginning to get the feeling no one reads this.
The coffee house went well. "Useless" is usually a good song to open up with, fast-paced, happy sounding, with a decent vocal ending to get people into the set. I sang it well and nailed the guitar, though it is an easy song to play. "Emo Kid" brought the crowd back down again into a mellow feeling until the second verse and chorus that hit a bit harder. Than I got the whole crowd into it with my version of "Karma Police," introducing it as a sing-along-song. Messed up the falsetto a bit at the beginning of the end, but I stuck it out and got compliments on it at the end.
The big show stopper was "Sleep a Sailor." It's easily my best song. The groovy verse riff got everyone into it (I could see people nodding their heads and a couple people were grooving in the back), and it went perfectly. There's a part where the song seems to end before I go into the almost-screaming "I am not afraid" bridge (which is sung an octave lower on the recording). I nailed the notes and was quite proud of myself. Got a lot of compliments on that song. Mostly I was just happy that I hit the notes with a growly screaming kind of sound. It apparently sounded good.
After that, had an 11:07 Comedy Improv workshop that I ended up partially leading. It was a lot of fun, we welcomed some new people to the crew and got everyone excited at the prospect of upcoming improv shows. Looks good for the upcoming shows. |
