Women ministers in your Church?

I am not trying to start a debate. I was just wondering how many non- denoms have women in leadership?

My mother is pastor at our church... I see nothing wrong with it, but that's just my opinion.

You're defining "minister" in a very strange way. In a sense, all Christians should be "ministers." What specifically do you mean by "minister?"

....thats your opinion. Now what does scripture say? There are very obvious passages that need to be dealt with that can't be disregarded with "I see nothign wrong with it."

I think that is great. I don't see anything wrong with it either. Especially since there were women deacons and elders is the church and the woman at the well was sent off to preach the gospel.

Being an elder is the same as being a pastor? Evangelism is only the work of pastors? I'd be impressed if you could defend either one of those positions.

You used female eldership and female evagelism as justification for female pastors. So yes, my statements flow from your post. You have to explain how female eldership justifies female pastors.

BY the way, I am not trying to argue this. I was just wondering what churches are out there that have it.

Go women preachers, yeah. My Pastors, man and woman married, are both preachers and do a good job of it. And we are non-denom. We also have women preachers visit our church. In fact there are about 4 that have come to preach. They were all wonderful. In a few weeks one is coming to speak for special meetings. Can't wait.

And don't forget, Mary Magdalene was the first to preach the gospel. She was the first to 'go and tell' (gospel) everyone that Jesus was alive. Gospel meaning the good news and that it was.

That rocks. I am hopefully going to go to seminary soon. So is my husband. We are looking for the money at the moment.

There's a big difference between telling people about the gospel (i.e. teaching or preaching) and actually being THE preacher at a church. If you are the preacher (minster, whatever) and you're a woman you are in authority over men, something that Paul says is definately not good. 1 tim 2:12. Also when paul talks about qualifications for pastors and deacons he says that they must be 'a man of one wife' 1 tim 3:2,4 and titus1:6. It is fine for women to teach other women, etc. But they are not to be in authority over men. The bible is clear on this.

You're so mean and sexist Shane. How could you suggest something so old and out dated? That part of the Bible can be thrown out cause like its 2000 years later and we've been through feminism and all that stuff. Stop being mean...

...wait no thats absurd. God knew what He was talking about when He wrote the Bible. Why would we suddenly throw out God's Word and 2000 years of tradition and interpretation because of feminism? ....right, it doesn't make sense. Its trying to hybrid Christiainity with popular culture. Its offensive and blatantly inspite of scripture.
