A power chord is made of two or three notes, usually the root, fifth, and sometimes the octave. They are like the first two or three notes of bar chords. They have more 'punch' than regular chords, and are easy to play since it only takes two fingers.

F power chord

e--x--
B--x--
G--x--
D--x(3)--
A--3--
E--1--

And etc. You just find the name of the chord you want and use that patern.

Yep,

Power chords are basically 2 or three note combinations, usually played on the 4th, 5th and 6th strings of the guitar. They're called power chords, but often they're not even really technically chords, since it takes 3 notes to make a chord.......

A lot of time it's just the root and the fifth of that root's major scale.

"Power" comes from the way they're normaly played: with extreme gusto! Think Lost Dogs or something like that.....on electric guitar, think overdrive and hard rock......

yup powerchords are great, good powerchord song: "punk rock show" by mxpx, it goes:

C(4x) A(3x) D(4x) G(3x) and then it goes to an F, you'll have to get the tab, but the chords are fingered:

C: x35xxx

A: 57xxxx

D: x57xxx

G: 35xxxx

F: 13xxxx

i just strum with every sylable for this song.
