After almost 8 years of playing in miscellaneous church worship teams, I was just asked to play in a worship band as a one-time deal at an upcoming local "worship night". Basically it's a night with us opening up and playing for about 45 minutes and then leading into the second band. Although I despise the term "gig" for this, I only chose that term in the thread's title for lack of a better term. It IS out of the ordinary for me to get a request like this as I really don't have a whole lot of musical connections outside of church, but our College group's bass player's girlfriend (following me there?) works at the local Christian radio station and got this connection through friends there.
Turns out that next Thursday (1/22), I'm even going to be playing guitar live and on the air on this radio station along with my buddy's girlfriend who will be singing a few songs and will be vocally leading worship the next night at this gathering!
Needless to say, I'm pretty excited as this is my first time REALLY playing outside of the church walls and since we'll both be playing/singing on live radio!
Sorry for the somewhat meaningless post, but my excitement is kind of boiling over at the moment and I just had to share...
