Love Does Not
This devotion could be pages long, but I'm choosing not to let it be. I believe that the "love chapter" is one of the most challenging passages of scripture ever put in the Bible. Tonight, I want to touch just briefly on the subject of "Love does not keep a record of wrongs." Wow. That's big!
Now, you might think "Well, how do I not remember wrongs? I have a good memory!" I admit, it is challenging, but God has a good memory too, and he chooses to forgive us daily for our sins and messups, so I think we can do it too!
If someone hurts you, it hurts you even more to hold on to that hurt! "Love does not take offense". Now, that doesn't mean you will never be offended, but it does mean that if you are offended, you are expected to let go of it, and not dwell on it constantly as some Christians do. That's where we sin. Not be being offended, but by taking the offense.
That's like someone offering you poison. If you accept the poison and do nothing with it, but you're in trouble if you take it! It's the same way with offense. So if someone has offend you, don't keep a record of it to dig up when that person does it again, and say "You do this all the time! Remember when…" That only lets you concentrate on the bad in people instead of the good God always manages to see in us rotten sinners.
So today, remember that it isn't always easy, but it's always doable with God's mighty help. Forgive and forget! For real.
