| Amy's Devotional: 1/13/04 Ladies and Gents, I really super appreciate all the support I've been getting from you, and I have loved writing devotions for all of you, but in my busy life, it is getting to be a little too much. This is just a heads up to let you all know that January 16th, the mark of a whole month of writing a daily devotion, will be my last day writing for you in a an everyday type setting. My life is just getting kind of crazy right now, and it's hard to fit it in, but never fear! I will be trying to come back often and post a devo at least once a week whenever possible. Again, thanks for your support, and I hope you will continue to read my thoughts when I post them!
Driving Force
The definition of "drive" basically means "to control, to guide." In our lives, each of us has something that controls or guides our life. My question for you today is what is driving your life? I know I posted a devotion like this earlier, but that was more of a witnessing tract than something to help a mature Christian grow healthier. But sometimes we do forget, and we start taking over the steering wheel, and God has to step back and let us. He'll never treat us like puppets, and so we have to be careful.
I believe that it's so important to daily ask God to search our hearts! Now that's not saying that I do personally, I'm not perfect, and am still growing in that area. But the Lord is just like a heavenly father. Our earthly father cannot have absolute control over us unless we let him. He can lock us in our room and never let us out, but that still doesn't mean he completely controls us. There's a certain part of us that we must give over to him.
It's the same with God. There's a small part of our heart that we must chose to give over to Him. And it doesn't just happen when we get saved, we must do it daily. It's like one of my favorite songs says: "Every day, it's you I live for. Every day, I'll follow after you. Every day, I'll walk with you, my Lord." It's a choice we have to make every day.
Of course, we are human, so sometimes we fail to make that choice. We don't always live for Christ every day, and I know when that happens to me, I feel it in my Spirit. My heart is weighed down, and I feel miserable until I come clean with God.
Confessions and repenting are never fun or easy, but it will always make you feel ten times better if you do! There's no better feeling than a fresh, pure conscience.
So make the right choice. Chose to live every day, through whatever trials and troubles, for Christ, and you will be rewarded!
