Infant Baptism

THREAD DISCLAIMER - This thread is NOT intended for philosophical debate whatsoever. Please do not use it as such. This thread is for those that have chosen to have their children baptized or dedicated and is intended for discussion along those lines only. Thanks...

Just curious - if you had your child baptized or dedicated, what age did the baptism or dedication take place?

We had Macey baptized when she was just over 4 months old. We are Methodist and the baptism was our commitment to raise her in a Christian home and set the best Christian examples we can for her. I think the timing for her baptism was great because she was big enough to support her head, etc. and was easy to hold, but was not too big yet. The ceremony was beautiful and perfect.

I have pictures in my journal if anyone wants to see them - I think the ones from the baptism are on page 3.

I wonder if any infants are baptized on the eighth day, as was the proper time for circumcision.

Seeing as most churches do all their baptisms on Sundays, I doubt that happens very often. Four months is usually longer than most families in our denomination go, but we don't do it the next week either.

I've never figured out what happened to the "eighth day" thing. I need to research that.

Geoffry was baptized when he was six, but it was his choice to do so.

We dedicated all 3 somewhere between 3 to 6 months.
Daniel was 6 when he chose to be baptised. Nathan is 5 and hasn't
done so yet.
